Axe III vs Quad Cortex comparison

I had the QC here for a few months, my personal opinion is that raw amp profiles are extremely good.
Modeling is not at the same level as FAS, effects are not on par with an Ampero Stomp 2, attention to bug fixes (like the delay mix pot) and phasing issues is similar to Chinese low level companies.
The only thing in which QC is way better than Axe fx 3 is the UI. If only FAS could develop the promised iOs app.
Promised where?
Citations please?

The problem with these comparisons is that most would just have one modeler or the other and listen to each stand alone. I for one have the AXE 3 that I use in conjunction with a real EVH 50 Stealth, a Kemper and Tones. All are ran through the AXE 3 via the effects loops that you can set up in IN/OUT 2, 3 and 4. I use the same pre and post effects and cabinet sims from the AXE 3 with each modeler or amp. This allows me a true apples to apples comparison between all of the platforms.

One might find one option sounding more punchier or more upfront in the mix while others seem more distant, etc. My approach allows me to add in or take away comparing all platforms by the simple changing of a patch in the AXE 3. This allows me to dial in more or less miss, highs or lows.

All of these modeling platforms are great tools but one can easily make any of these sound either amazing or bad real quick. To me I like having multiple options at the change of a patch to get a different feel but in the end I can get almost all to sound identical to one another including the real tube amp when coupled with the AXE 3. In the end, the AXE 3 is far superior with the capabilities it offers.

This is correct. Axe has superior sound. No comparison. And this is the most important feature, of course.

QC has a better UI, by far. The good folks that run the AXE can't even figure out how to implement the Large Font the FM3 had in 2023.

Do you really need to keep posting this?

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with "figuring it out"... It would be done exactly the same as on FM3 and FM9.

Cliff obviously doesn't consider it a priority or doesn't think it's required (he's "the good folks" ;))

There is a wish thread and has been for some time...

I can see how you would look at it that way, and don't blame you for your comments.

It's ok if you want to ignore, block, or delete my post. And it's ok if Cliff can't accomplish it, I just wish he'd let folks know, rather than let it drag on for years.

Still, I have seen guys wishing for a certain pedal or a certain amp many many times on this forum without people calling them pathetic. I'm supportive of their wishes and hope they get what they want.

All I want is to be able to read my AXE screen, and I'll never post another word on here again.

All the best to you.

To paraphrase my mom, it's not what you said but how you said it...

Unix, you are always the one who responds to me on this, so I appreciate it. No one else seems to care, but you seem like my posts are very important to you. Thank you.
I didn't say anything controversial. The UI is literally the only place where there AXE lags behind the QC, and that isn't a minority opinion. I also always say that the AXE is superior in every other way. But if my one-note posts upset you, all apologies, and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Why am I one that enjoys the UI, yes I use mostly Axe Edit, but I’ve used editors for Helix and I’ve played with a QC, and the lack of options on other units drives me nuts 😂.

Mainly, why do I need a separate EQ block taking up space, the Axe has that in so many blocks just as a convenience, but many want “realistic” UI that means bringing the limitations of analog into the digital realm to keep it “simple” and free of menus. But in the Axe you don’t need to turn every single knob to get a great tone. Unless you really want to that is!

As far as the physical device goes, yes. However, I think anybody who's reasonable and has access to a computer does most of their programming on a computer even with the QC because it's just quicker and easier.
And unfortunately the QC editor software is crap. Not only because it's clanky (and for me also quite congested) but because it's constantly crashing and takes ages to load on a restart. Axe-Edit doesn't have issues of this magnitude at all (and very little other issues) and is absolutely PHENOMENAL in every sense as far as software editors go. IMO.

You're not the only one. Axe-Edit is absolutely fantastic and lets you go as deep as you prefer without forcing anything on you (Authentic/Ideal among other simplifications).

100% correct. I enjoy Axe-Edit, too.

You are 100% right! Fractal editors are end level boss.
