Axe FX Ultra midi out not working

Hi,

Anybody can help me out why the midi out from my Ultra isn't working?

setup:
Axe FX ultra with MFC-101 pedal in Axe FX mode. MFC - Axe FX midi in.
Midi out from Axe FX connected to an external effect midi in.
External effect on midi receive channel 1. Axe FX on midi channel 1.
External effect responds to other pedals set on channel 1 and switches to different presets.
The external effect does NOT respond to the Axe FX whatever setting I try.

all updated to latest firmware.

Any ideas?

not sure from your post, exactly what you are trying to do, but it sounds like you want to control patch on both devices with the MFC ??

MIDI OUT on AxeFX is to allow bi-directional MIDI communication to PC, not to "daisy-chain" MIDI devices.
You will need to use the MIDI THRU port to hook AxeFX to external device.

Assuming I am correct, try this:
Hook up MFC MIDI OUT to AxeFX MIDI IN. Are you using 5 or 7-pin MIDI cable ?
Connect AxeFX MIDI THRU to external effect.
This is standard MIDI processing.

There are more complex setups, but try that first.
We can go from there if you want to control different things on the external effects device than the AxeFx.
 
I want to control patch change on both devices.

set up:

MFC midi out 7 pin hooked up to AxeFX midi in (MFC in Axe FX mode)
Axe FX midi thru hooked up to external FX
I stomp on the MFC and the Axe FX is changing presets.
external effect does not respond.

External effect does respond to any other midi pedal. just not this set up.
All receiving midi channels are channel 1.

????
Already spend the weekend with the technical side, wish I could practise, some gigs coming up...

Any help welcome.
 
I have tried this at home and it does not work. :cry:
It appears that the 7-pin mode is Axe/MFC specific, so no midi is being sent to the OUT or THRU on the Axe.

I did not try the hookup with 5-pin cables (powering MFC directly) i.e. MFC OUT to AXE IN, Axe OUIT to MFC IN, Axe THRU to External device.

You might also try (using your current hookup) dropping the Axe THUR -> External and hooking up 5-pin from MFC OUT -> External (bypassing the Axe completely) ??

Will try my suggestions at home tonight if I get time before the gig.
 
Surprised nobody knows this.. ahem..
but look at the manual of the MFC at page 14 and it says that the MFC does not send program change messages in Axe FX mode...
So if you want to switch external gear, you cannot use the Axe fX mode. Too bad.. that's why I bought this pedal, but it cannot be done..
