Axe-FX IV idea for Fractal

because it's just your current use case within which it can't be exhausted - not necesserily reality for all others, + I would guess you'd be able to exhaust it also should you suddenly get a hankerin for certain very cpu hungry fx combinations. It towers over the competition in capability, but inexhaustable?, for any logical combination of current and / or planned future features? ... c'mon now.

I sense a bit if that thing around here where some don't want to see a new hw unit released just because it makes their current unit no longer the king of the hill - kinda lame imo - staying on the leading edge with any developing product set costs $ - just reality.
I would suspect that there is not a large enough number of existing customers that would feel the need to replace their existing Axe Fx III units (especially those with Turbo units) to provide sufficient sales revenue to make the release of an Axe Fx IV a success unless the new unit greatly advanced beyond the capabilities of the existing unit, and all other modelers on the market, that both existing users and a huge number of users of other units, would see enough benefit to get them to buy the new version to replace their existing modeler. That I suspect would be a tough sell at this time given how great the Axe Fx III Turbo is and how capable many other units are as well.

fair enough - my point above was mainly in response to the somewhat often seen statement to the effect of: "Ax3 is limitless and there are no reasonable scenarios that would max it out - so no need for a successor" - I disagree on that, but I do agree that new and improved products often get released when there is enough demand to make it worthwhile. Don't forget however that many (like me) did not upgrade from III to IIIT. For me, and I suspect quite a few others also, the increase in horsepower from III to IIIT was not enough to warrant the cost of upgrading - so there are a number of us around (maybe enough to make it worthwhile) still currently running on non-Turbo 3's that would probably jump to a 4 depending on the specs. CPU usage inches up across firmware releases - extrapolating projected CPU needs, to my rough math, could easily point to an Axfx4 in many peeps future including my own (assuming spousal approval of funds release of course:oops:) and even 3T owners who will still want watever new goodies are offered.

Back in 2018, and even today, there were plenty of people who were content with the Axe-FX II and didn't see a need for the Axe-FX III. Does that mean FAS made a mistake in creating the Axe-FX III? I think you'd have a hard time finding someone who would answer "yes" to that :).

That's how tech products work, right? Someone comes out with a better product and people buy it because it's better. There are obviously countless ways in which a new product could surpass the Axe-FX III. Almost every week on this forum a useful feature is proposed that is shot down on account of the Axe-FX III lacking resources, capacity, or features. It would take a severe lack of imagination to not see significant opportunities for improvement in the amp modeler world. Fortunately for all of us, Cliff doesn't suffer from a lack of imagination.

It's funny, cuz when the III came out we didn't have Axe Edit yet. Had to go old school and use the front panel. It really wasn't inconvenient because now I can easily adjust anything I need without having to pull out my laptop and fire up Axe Edit. It's good to know where everything is if you really need to adjust things. I'd hate for the price to skyrocket due to additional "features" that aren't really necessary, as the current price point is phenomenal for what you can get out of it.

Agreed. Whenever the next Axe-Fx drops, I will smash that buy button.

Regarding technology, etc. When I read gear reviews (e.g. Sweetwater) and the reviewers writes something like, "My search is at an end with this ________!" I always get a chuckle. Tone junkies claiming they're no longer addicted is just too funny.

What’s cool about the II is some people are happy with it and didn’t have to upgrade - it still works!

The III is mega powerful but I could imagine a 4 with ultrares dynacabs, more amps per scene, more powerful pitch block, more powerful synth, etc. I could imagine an upsampling on output option too which would take the 48khz to 96khz-192khz. Who knnnnnowwws.
