Axe FX II as DAW

Analogue signal chain:
  1. Earthworks SR40V ($1000; FRFR vocal mic)
  2. Grace m101 ($700; FRFR mic preamp)
  3. Axe-Fx II in Input 1R or FX Loop L

Digital signal chain:
  1. Cab block with a blank IR (make sure motor drive is at 0) so that you can select which mic you'd like to simulate, if any. A great way to get a U87 sound on a live stage
  2. Cab block with a Neve 1073 160Hz hi-pass IR (ditto on motor drive)
  3. Amp block with TUBE PRE model
  4. Drive block with TAPE DIST type
  5. compression and/or delay and/or reverb

You can then:
  1. Use a cab block with a blank IR (make sure motor drive is at 0) so that you can select which mic you'd like to simulate, if any. A great way to get a U87 sound on a live stage
  2. Go into another cab block with a Neve 1073 160Hz hi-pass IR (ditto on motor drive)
  3. Go into TUBE PRE amp model
  4. Go into TAPE DIST drive block
  5. delay and/or reverb

Thanks! I'd wondered if there was a way to use the mic sims for other purposes but I hadn't really explored it yet.
