Axe FX 2 Recording: analogue to an interface or digital via USB

I was wondering which option would give me a better recording quality:

1. To use the Axe FX 2 as an interface and record digital via USB.

OR

2. To use a third part interface (ex: Apogee Duet 2) and run the Axe FX 2 analogue to the Interface (ex: apogee duet 2).

I've used USB for a bit, and while it gets the job done, I'd imagine for larger scale purposes you would be better off running the Axe into a nice interface. The less processing strain put on the axe, the better IMO.
