axe edit not connecting

Hi,

all of a sudden axe edit won't connect on one of my computers. I am on a win7 pc, axe edit has worked flawlessly for the last years, as of yesterday, it stopped working.

Things to consider:
  • On my win11 tablet, axe edit works fine
  • tried a different cable (both cables work with the win11 tablet)
  • tried all usb ports on my win7 pc,
  • uninstalled all FAS related software/drivers and reinstalled them
  • Fractal Bot works fine and I can transfer (send and receive) to and from my axe fx 3

Does anyone have a tip what to do next?

I have had this happen somewhat rarely on my Mac. If I unplug all usb, reboot the mac and FAS, then plug everything back in it seems to fix it. It appears to be some glitch with the usb ports.
 
Reselecting fixed it.
Weird though, I reselected the ports before, and it didn't work. Maybe the combo "reinstall and reselect" did the job? Like some secret Tekken/Mortal Combat wizardry back from the 90s...

It’s hard to imagine how Axedit automatically connecting to a generic midi port instead of an available AxeFX could possibly serve a useful purpose. If you’re trying to workaround a broken USB port, then the AxeFX wouldn’t show up as an available connection. Considering how often it causes problems, the way it works now could be called a bug, not a feature.
