Axe-edit is superb... but

It is superb, I honestly would've struggles with setting and tweaking my Axe-fx without it.

So why doesn't it work with the MFC-101?

Stability. It's much easier for AE to track the status of the Axe if it's the only thing making changes. Cliff stated that he wanted AE to be an RPC tool of sorts where it merely sends commands to the Axe and not have to coordinate and/or manage 2-way communications.

AE communications are currently bi-directional (2-way).
