I use my AX8 direct probably 90% of the time as the majority of my gigs are on ears, and absolutely adore it, but on the odd occasion I want to combine it with my amp (Friedman Dirty Shirley), what is the best way to get it to sound as close as possible to plugging straight in?
I know the limitations vs the FX8, I also know I could go directly into the FX return using a Friedman DS model on the AX8, but humour me for a second - if I want to use the actual tube preamp, is there a way I can tweak the ins/outs or perhaps the Global EQ (only on my 4CM preset, I don't wanna touch it for anything else) to retain the original tone?
I have both of the volumes to max for unity gain, and whilst it does sound really great, it's just a little less... juicy? Plugging straight in just has this juicy, spongy mojo that is slightly reduced by going through the AX8. Definitely not a deal-breaker for not using it, but I'm just curious if there's anything I'm missing.
Thanks in advance.
