Atomic FR Wedge Gig Bag?

I sent an email to Studio Slips on Monday and got a reply from Susan the same day. She said no one had inquired about any of her covers for the Atomic Wedges yet and she didn't have anything to work with for dimensions. (Note: Atomic & Fractal are in the drop down menu on her website.)
I sent her pics of my wedge from all angles, (that just sounds bad) and we spoke on Tuesday with me measuring and her asking questions while looking at the pics. (Yeah, I know it still sounds like one of "those" phone calls.)
We agreed to start with a dust cover, ~$60 shipped, and if that turns out good she will then work on the clam shell version which she figured would be ~$115 shipped. (CA > WI)

Very nice lady to work with so far, I'll let you know how things look once I get the dust cover version.

I built a custom 1x12 cab a year ago (with a built in 4 space rack)....I called Studio Slips to make a custom cover.
Susan and I spoke a couple times, I sent her all the dimensions....and my cover came to me as a perfect fit!
High quality materials, fast turn around (especially for a custom cover).
Highly recommend Studio Slips.

And I'm sure she'll add it to her product list so we'll all have the opportunity to buy one.

@ScottyB.....how did the dust cover fit? I am planning on ordering the clam shell.....

Fits perfectly, I'll try to post some pics later.

I did come up with some slight mods I would like though. I thought a flap over the connection/control panel that lifts up would be good so I can slide the cover over the wedge overnight or when it's not in use and still leave everything plugged in. I also would like to have the front portion run all the way to the floor, but that's just me being anal about my gear.

I did get a phone call from Susan yesterday and she is also making a clamshell for the wedge, I have no doubt it will be perfect.

Here are some pics of the dust cover from Studio Slips for the Atomic Wedge. This was the first one that Susan made based on a couple of emails and a single phone conversation. After I have had it for a few days, I think we could make some slight modifications for my other dust cover.

I think the bottom portion of the front of the cover should go all the way to the floor, ~5 inches here. I think it could still connect to the side panels though.

Sorry, I should have pulled the cover a little tighter, but it does fit better than this pic shows.

This one shows where I would like to put the flap for the cables. A flap, not an opening so you could remove/replace while still connected.

Anyway, my clamshell is in production and I would expect to see it in the next week or two.

@ ScottyB - thank you for your posts and pix......the dust cover looks great man. I like your idea regarding the flap for the cables. If it is not too much trouble could you post your opinion on the clam shell bag once you get it +/- some pix? I am planning on getting the clamshell bag for transport purposes but I think I might order the dust cover as well (with your mods).....I really don't want to worry about some opening band doucher spilling a beer on my fratomic.....the dust cover would be perfect to protect it while it is on stage waiting for ME!

Got the clamshell by Studio Slips today. I went the double-padded route with a pocket on the front for my cables.

Aesthetically, the openings for the handles are slightly off, but are still very functional. I sent a note to Susan with a link to this forum topic so she can see the difference. It is 1" difference at most. Anyway, I'm very happy with the end result.

Exactly my thinking too. The fabric is supposed to be water resistant, but I let a puddle of water sit on it for a awhile and even on the seams nothing soaked through. I'm pretty sure we are covered here! :D

btw - I also informed Susan at Studio Slips about the upcoming MFC-101 and that we will be wanting gig bags for that too. ;)

Nice. I would have opted for the pocket on top between the handles.
I never want anything adding pressure against the grill cloth except my foot!! :P

Hilarious, hopefully you're lighter on your feet than the power cord and an XLR cable. Anyway, the pocket would have to be quite a bit smaller in width to fit between the handle openings. The space between the handles is 17 1/2" and the pocket is 7 1/2" tall and 17 1/2" wide.
Since this one was basically the prototype for the wedge gig bag, I'm sure the feedback on the forum about ideas/improvements or to meet individual needs will be taken into consideration by Susan @ Studio Slips.

Wow - great photos - Thanks Scotty. I've made the change on the patterns for the handles so they line up right - brought them an inch closer to the grille. Making covers can be so odd as I started with the dust cover which had the handles lined up just right. Sigh. Let me know if anyone has any other feedback or requests at info@studioslips.com. I'm not the best at watching forums.

We can put a pocket between the handles that would be about 8 x 14.5 and 2" deep. The one on Scotty's clamshell is 8 x 17.5 x 2" deep. You loose 3" but still plenty of room for those cables. If you order online, just put a comment that you want the pocket between the handles.

See ya,
Susan

Is is just me or does it look like from the photos that the handle slots should be moved about an inch further from the grill...?

^ Same post with pic reference from page 1......

The grill is under the pocket, correct? Looks like the handle slots needs to be moved slightly further from the grille to be centered better? Maybe 1/2" to an 1"....?

You are correct jjb, the openings are too close to the grill and need to be moved 1" further from the grill to be centered better.

You could actually make the pocket bigger on the handle side, correct. I know width is compromised by the handles but you can get more height to make up for it. I am also thinking of a foot pillow so my boot doesnt rest totally on the grill cloth but more of the edge. :P

Here are some pics of the flap modification I made for for my wedge dust cover.
