Hi all,
From what I'm hearing, the new Atomic CLR's are pretty darn good. I have a Matrix GT-1000FX power amp which I'm more than happy with. However, not so infinite funds - which I'm less than happy with. I was thinking of either :
(a) Getting one, or two, passive CLR's (probably one cube and one wedge) and keeping the Matrix to power them.
(b) Getting one, or two, active CLRs' (again, probably one cube and one wedge) and selling the Matrix.
My reason for considering option (b) is because of the nice little feature that Pete Thorn was talking about in his review, where you can set the DSP for how you angle the wedge (floor, backline and on a stand). Apparently it nicely compensates to save you messing around with EQ's. However....how much of a difference this would make in various situations is something I don't know.
Does anybody have an active CLR and does it make much of a difference with the DSP settings? How does the CLR fair against other FRFR cabs you may have tried? I'm looking for something that gives a pretty much spot on representation of what I want to hear. I did try the Matrix CFR-12 and (sorry!) absolutely hated it. Great for 'chugga chugga' stuff, but everything in the middle was just....well....not good (to my fussy ears anyway).
Anyway, I'd be most interested to hear your views on the CLR's - especially from those who use the middle Fender\Dumble\Badger type of sims a lot. I know I could get one and try it out, but it costs a lot to ship anything into\out of the UK so keen not to waste cash (all musicians know all about this of course!).
Thanks in advance.
Mike
