Anyone still using a tube amp?

I still use my Dr. Z Maz 18 about 20% of the time for quick throw and go gigs with poor sound guys lol. The FM3 with IEMs 80% of the time. I love both options. Now that I have a Freyette Powerstation I’m thinking of using that with the FM3 into a cab, just need a cab or lug the Dr Z and use as a cab.
Power stations are incredible. On another forum I have said several times knowing what I know now the ps100 would have been my third piece of gear after my first guitar and tube amp. Hook that FM right up to it and enjoy!

I used to have one of those TC triple delays. Those are really cool.

I use it to copy other delays like I have a boss dd-6 and the delay is set up for welcome to the jungle and I copied it to the triple delay but the boss dd-6 seems more warmer and fuller than the triple delay. I also have one of the switches to a pan delay set up like in this song even though I can't understand what they are saying I like the delays. .

Nope, I don't get along with them anymore. Maybe someday but not in the foreseeable future.

Certainly NEVER want to go back to any kind of tap dancing with pedals, not even an amp footswitch to change channels either...it would have to integrate with the FC12 or MIDI controller easily somehow as a requirement (JP with his custom 2C+Axe kind of rig) and would have to be stereo because mono is really hard to go back to.

Axe FX and FRFR - preset, Scene, Setlist, bouncy-cool-stereo-effects for me > anything.
Flexible, easy-to-use, sounds killer, and the price is right.

I have a modded Mesa Roadster head I’ll never part with. Best amp I’ve ever owned. I plan to keep my Mesa Triple Crown TC-100 and Stiletto Deuce II, The DSL is already sold, and I gave my Mini Recto to a good friend of mine’s son who’s just getting started with the guitar.

Its a volume thing.
The Axe through FRFR at appropriate volumes. Or amp and cab randomly at rattling levels or at clean rolled back volumes. FRFR muddies up at higher volumes. Getting a louder volume, clean to slight breakup at rolled back levels and switching back and forth pickups to get you dirt and boost, and having that touch response and punch that will grizzly up ... is for the tube and me. It all comes down to different times of the day, have the place to myself or not, and volume and i need both the tube and not the tube

Modelling feels the least like tube amps at lower volumes imo. Still good but definitely different. Also amp in the room isn’t possible with any FrFr system I’ve tried yet and that’s all the usual suspects and then some.

I still have several amps. Some of the bands I work with want to hear an amp on stage. So, among several other amps, I have Headstrong Lil King S amp that I use with my pedalboard. But I bought a Friedman ASC 12 500 watt FRFR that I use with my FM9. The Friedman sounds amazing. And with the right presets it can sound like a roaring amp up on stage. It sounds like there's an amp on stage, only much much better.

Out of curiosity, have you tried to copy the sound of the ir-x with the fm9?
Yes of course . No one can tell which is which but the feel is better with the ir-x at home , live I play only with FM9 because the sound is really good .

I still use 2 tube amps in my stereo setup. I run into my fm9 and out in stereo into the power amp section of a carvin legacy 3 and a peavey 6505+ and out to matching 4x12 cabs. I also use out 2 to FOH

I do stil have all my amps. For me is Fractal complementary rather than substitution. I use Fractal for low volume practice and advanced routing cases. For tone enjoyment I always go for tube amp. If I were gigging , I would've be using fractal.

I still have three tube amps: Star Sirius (Mark Samson/Matchless), Goodsell Super 17, and a tweed Deluxe that I built from a Mojotone kit. I also have a little portable Pignose I keep around for grab-n-go and for working on stuff in the shop.
I don't use them too much, but still break them out occasionally.
Same with pedals - I have a bunch of select pedals that I kept, but only break out occasionally.
I play my Fractal 99-percent of the time.

Today I put my Mesa Mk V:90 combo and matching Mesa Widebody 1x12 closed on the local Dutch Martplaats. I'm a bit sad to know it might be gone soon but after not playing the amp after purchasing my FM9 I know it's the right decision. With my tinnitus I just cannot enjoy the am anymore. The MkV is great even at lower volumes but I can only deal with playing at a volume that feels to be too low for the amp. Let's hope someone else can enjoy it instead of being tucked away in a corner. I don't need the money but I also don't like to have stuff around that I don't use and only reminds me of the times when I could still enjoy playing at decent sound levels.
