any news about AXE FX IV?

Want a jumpered EF86 DC-30 (has that made it onto the Axe yet?) you will find one in no time.
And then you'll have to force yourself to like it.
In a few months with tonex I found only one useful capture, a clean one.

Yep, I've tried tons of Dumbles, Victory's, Two Rocks, but none of them are useful for me. For some fun yes, for recording or performing no. If those were my reference to actual amps, I'd say those amps were mostly garbage and not living to the hype.
I struggle to find an amp of FAS which i don't like or can't make sound good.

Effects? No comparison. Noisegate? Sucks.
And I still can't find that spot where tonex presets created at home sound good at rehearsal. Something is always off.

Not all presets created equal, but at least you can tune them. You can't tune capture. My only hope is to capture my fractal presets :)

P.S. Tonex editor and library are examples of a perfect nightmare. Aren't they ashamed of releasing it? Are they even serious about their job and customers?...

I think this is the problem with captures. Havent thought about this in detail, but I doubt that a capture of an entire signal chain can be as accurate as parametrised modelling of each amp component individually. Some components influence each other in a dynamic way, changing tone and feel. You can't measure whats going on in between your stomps <-> amp <-> cab <-> mic.

Similar to solving an equation like initial signal + stomp + amp + cab + mic = tone. The capturing device can compare the initial signal and the resulting tone to guesstimate whats going on, but this equation can be solved in inifinite ways, thus the capture has to be within some generic limits.

IMHO the Axe FX III tone capture is superior because you can first model the entire signal chain of your actual guitar rig as accurately as possible to get the tone and feel nailed as much as you can, then you can refine the result by matching the tone.

Edit: IMHO most users should be perfectly fine with what we got with the Axe III and unless there is something coming up that needs a massive hardware upgrade, I doubt there will be a new Axe IV coming anytime soon...

I don’t want Fractal to be a profiler: I think their modeling approach is superior.

As for limitations on the FX3… storage space for dynacabs comes to mind as the main area where we have seen hardware limit what can be done. I feel like I’ve seen one or two comments from Cliff about being surprised the III could run a new algorithm, but not much else to suggest there are new modeling algorithms that need a next gen hardware.

Fractal Audio (thankfully) isn’t Neural DSP — they’re not gonna tease you with gear and features six months in advance that won’t actually drop for another three years. Just sayin’. 🤭😎

Long story short: grab an Axe-Fx III right now and don’t even sweat it. It’s a total workhorse. I use it in the studio every day and there’s nothing I can’t dial in with it.

I understand the OP's feeling. For me it's also a lot of money to spend on a unit. But it's the case of - do you need it now?? If you do, have the money and can spend it without any financial compromise, do it. If you don't really "need it" and it just a curiosity novelty for now, then wait for the "IV", knowing that a "V" would follow, etc etc. It's a never ending subject.

If you get Fractal gear and take care of it, you can sell it and recoup a lot of the cost.
I've bought and sold the the AF1, the AF2, and and AX8 on my way to an FM9 and a III+.
At some point I'll sell those once a IV comes out. I'm not playing out a lot lately I could sell the 9 but don't need to.

I'm also not breathless for the IV or the FM9 next gen. We are already way past what I need.

Finally, I got some spare cash and had the chance to buy an AXE FXIII Mk II.

I can't deny that I've always had a strong desire to own an AXEIII, from the Ax8 to the Fm3, Fm3 MkII, and Fm9 MkII.

My only small concern is that I'm worried that the AXE FX IV will be released soon after I buy it.

As many wise people say, "Don't waste your time waiting and worrying, buy it today and enjoy it!" And I agree 100%. But..

Have you heard any news or hints about the release of the AXE FX IV? 🤔

Anyway,
I don't have any fractal gear right now, so I'm playing around with the free NAM profiler.

I'm struggle trying to adjust the several input gains , output gains of nam and even the channel gain of my audio interface to match the noise in the NAM, and I'm crying myself go to sleep. Haha. 😢

As I write, I'm getting more and more desperate to buy an AXE III!🔥🔥

Buy the AxeFX3 Turbo.

@francis have you figured out whether an FM9 can run all the effects and stuff you want? It is a LOT less expensive than the AX3 and FC-12.
The experience of fm9 Mk II turbo was fantastic.

I was happy with the variable impedance, two amps, and power that I didn't even have to look at the CPU usage!

I wanted to keep it, but I sold it in a hurry to buy a rare Jackson Soloist that I had been waiting for years.

The sad truth is that the mahogany Soloist that I was so curious about didn't sound as good as my custom guitar (also mahogany), and the playability of the neckback was incomparably low...

So I sold that Jackson soon after.

If I had more gigs, I would have bought the Fm9 again.
After thinking about it carefully, I really wanted to experience the AXE3 this time.
:D
thanks ,

I think the simple and quick answer to the question is yes
There are definitely new FAS products coming and some of them will be next Gen replacements for the 3 and FM series
I am sure they have been working on them a while

The unknown is the when and that you will not know until it released or Cliff drops a specific hint in one of the threads like he does from time to time

To OP:
a hint that the IV is coming is that there will probably be a sale beforehand on the III.
This is just a wild guess though.
After I bought the III I was looking to get the FC-12.
I saw it on sale and was ready to pull the trigger, then I got busy a few days and missed the sale.
The next day or two, the FC 12 MK II was out. It cost more but I was happy because I much more preferred the larger screens.

Oh, and BTW....about 6 months ago I had a Tonex model in the top ten for over a month.....It was a capture of the Friedman BE V3 from my Fractal, lol.

So, OP, I'm not gonna profess to have the answer for you or anything. All I can do is share my experience.

In the summer of '23 I was in a very similar place to where you are now. I had been thinking about the Axe for a good long while, at least six months or so, probably longer. I was concerned about the expense of the unit, first and foremost, but I was also a bit nervous about the possibility of missing out on the latest and greatest if I accidentally ordered the FX III shortly before a potential IV was released. So I had been hemming and hawing a while, afraid to pull the trigger.

And one day I told myself something along the lines of: I know I want this technology. I know it will be useful, I know it will sound good. If, by some weird coincidence, I get the III a day before they announce the IV, so be it. It's not like my machine will self-destruct or anything. And chances are good it will take a while before there is a significant upgrade. In the meantime, I'd rather have this thing in my studio than to keep playing a game of 'what if.'

So, I've had it now for almost two years. From the day I sat down and started to dial in tones, I knew that the only mistake I had made was being afraid to commit, because it had only cost me time with the FX III. I have never regretted the purchase, not for one day, and if the technology makes a quantum leap tomorrow, I will be hanging on to that FX III until it stops working because it is a beast.
