Announcing The New VP4 Virtual Pedalboard - Compact Multi-Fx Processor

So the bottom line is you can't bank (VP4 banks of 4) up or down via an external MIDI controller?
How about presets? If I don't want to Preset +1 twenty times to get from from Preset A1 to Preset F1, how do I do it?
You can do anything that your MIDI controller supports. For example, on my Gordius (and many other controllers) you can press and hold to automatically step through presets, or jump by 4, or whatever. MIDI is MIDI.

Great! Jump by 4 would do it I guess I'm asking the wrong ccmpany these banking questions.

The other question refers to being able to instantly access (the push of one button from a midi controller) the scenes of the presets in a given VP4 bank. The VP4 footswitches give me instant access to 4 scenes (1 for each of the presets in the bank). It's clear from the manual how to access scenes in the preset I'm currently in. It's the scenes in the remaining presets in the bank that I'm trying to instantly access.via a MIDI controller. Will your Gordius do that?

Thanks again. A little more access to these scenes and I shave 7 lbs off my board design with the VP4 and lose nothing.

No, the 4 switches give you access to either 4 presets (indirectly to the default scene of each) when in Preset Mode or to all 4 scenes in the current preset when in Scene Mode.

There's no way to access a specific scene in a specific preset directly (only the default scene when the preset loads).

You always need to select a preset and then a scene within that preset.

You would do that via midi with multiple switch presses unless your midi controller allows for multiple midi commands on a single switch (many do).

You need to send a PC to select the preset followed by a CC to select the scene in that preset.

1. Yes
2. The maximum current draw is 1.3A. Typical draw is less than 1A but we cannot guarantee proper operation if using a supply below the rated specification. It can run on 12V and the current draw will be lower in this case.
Is 12 VDC the max you recommend?

Those are the four scenes I'm referring to. Each of the presets have one designated scene that is accessed when hitting the VP4 footswitch. Please reread my post.

Yes, I understand this. It's in the manual.

I understand this as well. The cc for getting to a given scene within a preset is easy. There's a table for it. I"m hoping there's a similar table to access presets within a bank For example: say cc2-0 (this is a fictitious number, and I realize this could possibly be done with PCs) gets you to the first preset of the bank you're in, cc2-1 the second, cc2-2 the third, cc2-3 the fourth.

Using +1, +2, +3 and -1, -2, -3 to get you to your preset within a bank is awkward because roughly a half of your switches will push you out of your current bank.

Anyways, I appreciate the effort.

I already read your post several times before I replied. I tried to answer as best I can given what I think you're asking given that it's actually not clear. Based on your response I'm now more confused...

Midi access is by PCs, not CCs.

Midi has no concept of the banks within the VP4 and the VP4 has no option to "select preset in bank" with midi.

You'll need to "do the math".

PCs will be 0-127. The "table" will be:

0 - A1
1 - A2
2 - A3
3 - A4
4 - B1
5 - B2
6 - B3
7 - B4

Repeat...

I've seen a couple people asking for this - what would the purpose be, to use a real amp into an IR (the cab block), replacing a cabinet, and then going direct?
Same use as the Ox Stomp pedal. You can use the IRs with modeler pedals or other analog amp pedals. From there you go direct.

What I need it to have, is a midi block with option to send at least one PC per scene,.... so I can use it with my amp and change channels without a tap dance. I dont see a problem having it inside the unit as a block,... who doesn't need it, just dont use it,.... but it is essential for my use with a real amp. And I repeat, it doesnt have to be full of features like the midi block on his older brothers,.... I just need one programable PC per scene in order to control my amp with it.... I bet it is a minor problem for Fractal people to implement it.

After days of consideration and procrastination, I just ordered mine under the justification that it will bolster my non-turbo III and FM9 rather than upgrade them yet again….and will play nice with the SY-1000 as @Admin M@ was so kind to remind us….FOMO had NOTHING to do with it IMG_0024.jpeg

There seems to be a lot of this around the VP4. An IR Loader is being considered for a future FW update. I can see making use of that. In the meantime, particularly after having watched a number of the good videos already out, I think the VP4 fills a gap in the market in a very solid way.

Otherwise, there are already a number of excellent products that fulfill people's requests in this thread: FX8, FM3, and FM9. It's pretty much the end of the discussion.

Mine should arrive today... if I can be available to sign for it. Our local post office didn't mark on the missed delivery receipt from Saturday's unexpected late delivery attempt whether a redelivery would be made today (Monday) or if it is available at the actual office. Bang up job, just like FedEx... UPS is perfectly reliable. Also, our local PO has a signature on file, and are supposed to deliver. We're in a rural area with a secure delivery location.

I've got an FM9T and FM3 which I use for different bands/gigs/tracking depending whether I'm on guitar or bass.

I'd love a VP4 to sit on my desk as in my studio I run guitar > pedals/preamp racks > amp and cab switcher > various heads/combos > back to amp and cab switcher to go out to either cabs in room or Fractal Load Box > Fractal Load Box > VP4 would go here with FX and Cab Block in amp switcher FX Loop > DAW

Currently I use my FM9T or FM3 where I'd want the VP4 to sit.
