Amazing what ChatGPT can do these days!

Lately I have been using perplexity to create presets for me. I supply axe fx wiki pages, pictures of settings on amp block and forum link. It scans everything in a few seconds and gets back to me with a bunch of tweaks.

Do they work? 50 percent of the time, it works every time!

I take it that's deemed worthwhile?
Let me tell you this much. I posted the schematic of an amp and it figured out the topology of the amp, telling whether it has large or small negative feedback, whether it has cathode follower, and reading the voltage chart it said it’s biased cold or hot compared to other amps.

BUT it does make mistakes and when you tell it’s wrong, it disappears for a few seconds to do more research and comes back with corrections.

I’m against AI, never used it once and don’t want to use it. I’m not against knowledge or encyclopedia, but this thing does mistakes for what I read about it. And I think that this is dangerous for humanity.

Internet already killed a lot of passion-related jobs in music, film, video game … Amazon killed small businesses …

People cannot live anymore with music because of internet …

And now?

now AI is trying to kill the job of UI/UX jobs, people who live doing visuals with photoshop etc…

Humanity will be slave to robots at the end of the game

There is nothing more enjoyable to work hard to be good, stealing talent letting a bot doing what you can do, make you useless in the end

I don’t want to be part of it. I want to see talented people, artists. Not fucking bots

AI is not "trying" anything...

It's a tool used by people.

And you know, people used to say similar things about Photoshop, right? A true artist doesn't use a computer!

Times change, tools change.

I'm not a huge fan of AI, but it's just code... Not a self aware entity.

And I do agree it can be, and often is wrong. And lots of people are stupid... Bad combination :)

New tech and innovation have and always will destroy jobs and create new ones. Impossible to make everyone happy. I think the best move is to anticipate and adapt, it’s difficult but the only chance of survival IMO.

A while back there was this "AI Lawyer" guy who boasted that he'd just use AI to argue your case or something... anyhow, it's not directly about him, but somewhere in all the discussions about how "AI would replace lawyers" I read a real, non-AI lawyer (IIRC) make a good point, that is IMHO applicable accross the board:

Lawyers would not be replaced by AI - but lawyers who used/worked with AI would replace lawyers who would not.

Now, maybe not completely. I think niches will remain in all sorts of fields, that will eschew the use of AI. I'm not quite clear on my own stance in the future. I'm not sure I want to be, yet.

(Although I must admit that originally, all I wanted to post was: "All ChatGPT can reliably do is kiss my a$*!"

AI is poison. Contributing to AI is contributing to the demise of humanity.

Hard pass. If you enjoy the notion of a digital open air prison being the limits of humanity run by elite inbreds, then by all means support and praise AI, because those elites are already using it to impose their will upon you and humanity will have absolutely nowhere to turn.

It cannot be contained. It's sole purpose is ultimately to be turned against humanity and used to turn human beings into chattle, ultimately eliminating the human spirit. Fucks sake it's gleaning its phony humanity costume...its programmed biases et al, from the sewers of culture: social media. All one has to do is read up on "Singularity" and pay attention to Club of Rome documents and the WEFtards.

If you think AI is "helpful", you're already onboard with the elimination of your species, save for, of course, the Rothchild elite class.

I m not sure about this « create new ones » thing, because being a programmer is not something that every one wanted to be or « can be », to me there will be a gap between very qualified job and very difficult ones , like very rich and very poor but nothing in the middle . Don’t know if you understand what I mean . But it is not so easy to change job when you perfect something your whole life and can’t do your job anymore

But this is life...

What do you think happened to coach makers when automobiles became popular?

What about cobblers?

Blacksmiths? Do you know any?

Technology changes things...

And most users of AI are not programmers.

Splash on a little Sex Panther. That will give you two 50 percent chances. That makes 100 percent a sure thing!

I mean what « new jobs » AI creates ?

I understand what you said, but I prefer things done by humans, so I won’t be part of it

I still buying records man, I don’t have Spotify, it is possible you know.

You are not obliged to be 100% this way, you can choose to be « traditional ». The more we are, the more « real things » will stay … if everyone goes to the bad direction and call this « progress » … like a fatality… No .

I’m not against modernity, tools etc, but these things are more than that, they are killing jobs.

See how many shops are closing because of that . What will stay in our cities ? Banks and food trucks? I was so happy before to go to a record store or a music store while visiting a city, now what do you see ? … everything on the computer, open a box in your house … some people will never know the pleasure to go to a guitar store and to have hundreds of guitars near you that you can see, touch etc . Maybe I am already old, but I am very happy to have known the world before internet .

I’m happy to think twice before I buy something, to know where my money go, if I help someone to live . I want to see people living with their passion and talent . Not having one boss and slaves around

I don't really disagree... But yes, you and I are old already ;)

Life before the internet

Life before the mobile phone (not smart phone)

Life before television

Life before processed foods

These are all eras and people that were around in the before usually bemoan the after.

As others have said in this thread, AI is just a tool used by humans. Is it cheating? Most people don't think so when it replaces something that is really mundane to do, like writing a corporate paper of some kind. When it's used for creative purposes, like making a film or writing a song, that's when it gets questionable (to me).

The answers you get from AI are not perfect though. There are merely a starting point from which you can add a personal touch. This applies to writing papers, as well as writing a song. You won't get a perfect end product from an AI tool, but you will get a good starting point to build upon (like the OP kind of said).

Having said that, I have never used AI as a starting point for song writing. That would not feel right to me.
