Alternatives to the Rumble cabs?

Hey!

I find myself almost exclusively using the Stock Rumble cabinets in stereo when enjoying my AX8. I know too little about IRs and cabinets to know why I like them so much, but they sound open and warm to me. Usually I pair it with the Bogner 30 amp or a Clean Bludojai.
Any tips on similar cabinets for me to try out? The IR world is still a jungle to me :)
Cheers

Can I ask which stock rumble cabs you use in stereo?
Nope, industry secret.

Well....OK.......
105 — 4x12 RUMBLE EV12L RNR1 — EVM 12L speakers in a 4x12 12L/12S "Thiele" Dumble cabinet, UltraRes, captured using the Mic+DI method, Cab Pack 17. Before firmware 19: 4x12 Rumble EV12L Mix.
106 — 4x12 RUMBLE EV12S M160 — EVM 12S speakers in a 4x12 12L/12S "Thiele" Dumble cabinet, UltraRes, captured using the Mic+DI method, Cab Pack 17. Before firmware 19: 4x12 Rumble EV12L Mix.

gratzie for revealing the industry secret! I will give it a try.

And revealing my secret, I agree the IR world is a jungle to me too, so when I hear someone liking a certain combination I wanna give it a shot. Plus I don't think I have yet tried an Rumbles. Do you do any delay to left or right or any other tricks in the Cab block when you run them?

perhaps a bit strange, but i love g12h in real life and find myself using those also on the ax8 a lot. i do like you using two different ones in stereo - often one with 55hz cones and one with 75hz ones (also like in real life) . i use the rumbles a lot too so def one of my faves.

Cool, will try those in the weekend :) Which ones specifically??

I use these: 34 and 146 the most. I often try them together with greenbacks too and like 101, 103, 131, 132, 147 and 148.

034 — 4x12 BASKETWEAVE G12H30 (RW) — "'68 Marshall Basketweave 4x12 loaded with a matched quad of vintage, 30-watt, Celestion G12H "blackbacks". T1281 frames and "444", 55Hz bass cones from the late 70's. Unleash your inner Jimi, or Jimmy, if you prefer".
057 — 4x12 SLM H75 (OH) — SLM Electronics 4x12 with Scumback H75 speakers.
064 — 4x12 30W (Ultra) — 4x12 with G12H30s, ported from the Ultra.
146 — 4x12 MAR-CB H-PR-55 MIX (OH) — Marshall 4x12 cabinet, with four 12" Pre-Rola G12H30 speakers, UltraRes.
some times I mix them

In real life I play rock gigs with a 1965 Vox AC50 with a matching trolly cab with 2 x 12 G12H 75hz cones (the speaker Marshall never used) a cab that gives me some of the same feeling and clarity is:
070 — 4x12 BEATLE GB — Vox Beatle 4x12 with greenbacks, so greensbacks but I get the same vibe.

These two I just messed a little bit around with.
016 — 1x12 BRIT G12H30 (RW) — "Celestion G12H30, housed in a solid mahogany, open-backed cabinet".
116 — 1x12 SCUMTONE 25W MIX — Cas Azera Tone-Tools detuned 1x12 with Scumback H55.

When practicing on real amps we have some vintage Marshalls and Cabs that is my reference. If I ever get a II I will most likely shoot IR's of these myself, same goes for a Hi-Watt cab with Fanes that has something that I really like. After I have messed around with the AX8 for a couple of months I am starting to gravitate towards 2 x 12 cabs for overdriven and distorted sounds (I mostly play clean tho).

You can shoot IRs with just an audio interface and reaper. The basic process is super simple, whether you use an AFII or an audio interface. Getting good sounding IRs is a different matter though. That takes experience.
