AES/EBU

I just got a MOTU 896mk3 that has a AES/EBU in and out. I plugged a regular xlr cable out of the Axe II AES/EBU into the the AES/EBU on the MOTU and got no signal. Is this connector supposed to work this way?

AES/EBU is a professional grade digital in/out connection requiring specialized digital cabling.
You can just use an analog xlr cable, you have to buy AES cable.

A regular XLR should work fine....depending on lenght. At least there should be sound. But yeah, you should probably get a dedicated 110 ohm cable if you're going to be using AES/EBU.

Check if the cable is wired correctly, and check that everything is configured correctly in the MOTU.
