🔥Introducing ICONS - Amp Modeling + FX - Plugins & Standalone

At a $299 price point, the value proposition feels out of step with the market. While I’m sure the quality is world-class, the "36 amps of one style" approach feels heavy-handed for a plugin. A curated, categorical approach would be far more effective for the "in-the-box" crowd. For example:

It is not cheap for sure. But if you compare it for example to Neural DSP plugins archetype that cost around 130-170$ for three amps and 5 effects the Fractal plugin is reasonably priced I think.

But for a 299$ plug-in (no matter what plug-in) there should be a trial/demo version I think.

That’s true but those plugins give you a palette of sounds from clean to heavy, which covers some territory. They are still genre specific but I’d say more versatile than 30 fenders.

What’s truly bad about them is a peculiar, different and limited set of effects - you can have an amp you need but no tremolo etc, so you need to mix and match, buy more etc. And for that you need a host capable of switching if the way you’re using them implies using different sounds through a song.

Helix Native, Guitar Rig and a couple others offer a more useful approach, which I hope Fractal will end up providing some time down the road, too.

This is the one thing I don't like. I want to be able to make a patch in a daw and then be able to doenload it in my AXE FX 3. I usally keep the Axe at Church and want to be able to make in install at home. Also it appears it is going to be like the NSP model of having several amp models to but separately. But most of there's has the ability to be played in the Quad.

For me, this is the most important thing to "improve" above all.

Assuming that lot of us (like me) would like to import in their DAW their own amps/effects from the HW units to use them in their records and having the ability to tweak amps diuring mixing stage, a cross compatibility would be essential. Yes, of course, you can print the track on the DAW from the hardware, but you cannot modify things after printing.

Imagine to use your favorite amp on a record: you sculpt the sound in the DAW with the plugin and then you export it, to import IDENTICAL directly on your FM3/FM9/FXIII , ready for live gigs.
Or you just want to bring your Live-Tone on a record and having a fine tweak it during the mix (maybe add or remove some gain or do any automation on delay/reverb).

I imagine the chain structure of the plugin is easier than the harware , but , if it's a direct port from the hardware, maybe , having a single block export /import feauture would be a great initial solution, if the full preset compatibility is impossible at this phase.

Anyway you did a great job FAS Team!

Bye,
Andrea

FCs require the hardware.

You can use the FC with a Fractal hardware unit to send midi, but otherwise not really.
I see. Thank you (This thread grows very fast :)). I like how Fractal is able to address different musician needs. I am happy with my Fractal unit now, having an FC12 controller and also an Axe-edit that lets me edit through a computer. I still see Fractal Icons as a worthwhile investment for some musicians who would want the Fractal Fender experience without necessarily spending twice for an FM3. Or those who want the Fractal experience without necessarily needing another hardware. It will surely be a challenger to the current leaders of the guitar plugin market. Very nice!

I’m trying to understand licensing/features... Do the individual ICONS Fullerton volumes ($99 each) ship with the same effects suite as Fullerton Complete ($299)
Effects are mostly the same in all volumes.

The Deluxe Spring reverb is only included in the Deluxe volume. The Vibrato-King Spring reverb and Harmonic Trem are only included in the Vibras volume. Complete obviously has all of those.

Where the Plate be at? :D

Are these "Lite" versions of the amp models?
I'm not seeing all the "Expert" page parameters, like selecting what tubes/tube brands, SIC etc.
The amps are the full models but the exposed expert parameters are limited to a handful of essentials.
A future update is expected to show some of the Speaker Impedance options, and also potentially allow you to disable the Power amp.
For models with an onboard GEQ (e.g. the "Petaluma" family, that would be shown as well.

Thanks for the precise answer! While I have your attention, I have a few questions:
1/ Single Plugin: Can you confirm future collections will be added to the same ICONS plugin (rather than one plugin per collection) to allow for cumulative use of all FX/DynaCab HD?
2/ Long-term Support: Can you provide reassurance regarding OS compatibility for the next 10 years (even without major upgrades)?
3/ Dynamic Pricing: To avoid customers waiting for a "Complete Collection" bundle, will you offer a "complete your bundle" discount so that previous purchases are deducted from the final bundle price?
4/ Please can you add APPLE PAY purchase instant button? I hesitate a lot less using it!
I just read on the gear forum that you’ll try to offer a demo. That’s great news, I’m very grateful for your effort to open FAS tech to studio dudes (and bedroom too) and not having to join waiting list for some countries.

The price remains high because it is necessary to cover the risks associated with a possible hack. Since everything created by man can be hacked, there would be a desire and resources. Fractal products will be especially desirable for pirates, so they will throw all their efforts into it. And taking all this into account, the plugin should not be cheap in order to collect good money before it is broken, ideally last for 5 years. I have no doubt about pirates, they break everything.
Uh. Why did my reply to this show up in Russian?
