    Axe-fx 2 for the aussies!!!

I think you got lucky with customs. I've heard of a few that have but most us have not. I got mine before Indepentent was bringing them in and Cliff supplied all the right paper work declaring that it was made in and substantially made from USA sourced copmponents but I still got hit up with...

mission SP1 (with switch) and Wah

Think of the switch as just that - with its own 6.5mm socket, and needing its own cable. It is electrically completely separate from the pedal. Richard

Yep - I sent Independent Music an email earlier suggesting the same. Richard

Anyone Know Exactly what is going on with MFC in Australia?

I got the hosa one to use with my LFJr/Ultra. THe hosa one works but it is a bit of a pain as one end is straight and the other 90 degrees. The 90deg end points up so it spoils access to the 9vac phantom in on the back of the ultra - hence it ends up sticking up higher than the back of the...

Anyone Know Exactly what is going on with MFC in Australia?

I made my 7-pin midi cable. Before that I had a Hosa one - and I did a quick seach for "hosa 7 pin midi" and found quite a few resellers in Oz. It's not that solid but I keep it in the bag as a back up. Richard

Wah wah with external pedal control...

I'd be fairly sure that it's because volume pedals have logarithmic pots where as exp pedals use linear pots. If the impedance is linear, then so too will be the midi encoding. If it's log, then all of the sweep will appear to be in the first ( or last depending on how you have it connected)...

Thanks for posting the update. With the floods that have hit Brisbane I've been reluctant to call IM - not knowing how/if they got wet... Richard

    expression pedal questions

Another big difference is that volume pedals use logarithmic pots for to acheive a smooth audio fade. Expression pedals use linear pots. I put up with two volume pedals that I modded with TRS sockets for a while but the audio/log taper made them almost unuseable. I the end I purchased 2 new...

    FBT Maxx4a

I have and use 2 of these and love them. When playing bass, I add a kv2 audio kx1.2 sub and I'm in heaven. +1 to AAEN - you have to try diffent things yourself. Richard

    Acoustic preset on AxeFx standard

I suspect the OP is asking how to make an electirc sound like an acoustic. My regular gigging partner has a parker fly and weaves magic using the bridge piezos. As for mags... not many ideas here. Richard

    Bass tuner request/different instrument setting

Is there something wrong with tuning with the 12th fret harmonic? Certainly beats doing it the way I was taught 35 years ago - with a pitch fork... I don't think it's an overall latency issue that's the problem - I think it's more the amount of each note you need to sample to establish its...

Goodbye, & thanks for all the fish.....

Independent Music has only been the Australian Distributor for a few months. Prior to that, everything else in Australia was brught direct from FAS or secondhand. IM have been great to deal with from my experience - even though I did not buy from them. With regard to Bob - who cares whether he...

FRFR for Bass? + Powered Sub

    32 - 125 Hz :D The low B string is, I think, about 31Hz fundamental... Low E is about 41Hz The FBT Maxx4A is quoted as -5dB @ 50Hz & 20kHz

FRFR for Bass? + Powered Sub

A few months ago I was quite happilly playing my 4 string bass through a pair of FBT Maxx4a's... Then I got a 5 string (Fender MIA Jazz V) and it just didn't seem to be 'all there' on the low B so I did a bit of research, trying different things, and speaking to a few mates and ended up adding a...

Has anyone tried both the EBMM 250k & 25k pedal for exp

hey fret, i assume you meant volume pedal rather than VPJR - the VPJR is definately much lighter. Richard

Has anyone tried both the EBMM 250k & 25k pedal for exp

I modded mine but, as fret says, the taper is very problematic - so much so that it's not useable. I thought about changing the pot but just got 2 Mission Engineering ones instead. Very happy with these. ps my EB volume pedal weighs 1.7kg where as the ME ones are 1.55kg - not much in it for weight.

    AxeFX in Australia

Sorry geamala - that wasn't directed at you and no you didn't put anyone down. There are many 'realities' with regard to being in retail that seem strange. AxeFX in Australia

I am a bit tired of guys dumping on an Australian outfit trying to do a good job. re: price, I got mine Aug 2009 direct from Fractal Audio Systems in the US and here's how the $ worked out: $2,729AUD to FAS (The dollar was at 79.48) plus $456.18AUD to customs (5% import duty + 10%GST) Total...

Ordered an Axe-Fx Ultra for bass!

+1 for a bass section. The biggest change I've made recently is adding a kv2-audio kx1.2 500w powered sub to my 2 x FBT maxx4a's. Quite a different way of thinking running frfr gear - I play a 5 sting so the fbt's weren't really doing justice to the sound below about G on the E string. Richard

Brand New LFjr. acting really unstable???

You need to calibrate the axefx to measure the impedance range of the pedal. When you did it on the lfjr, the lfjr then reads the pedal impedance and broadcasts this as a midi controller (hence why you assigned extern1 to midi 64 or something like this). Once you plug the pedal into the axefx...

What are you using for your FRFR?

I've been using a pair of fbt maxx 4a's for the last two years and am very happy with the sound. Recently I've been playing a lot more bass and putting that through the Axe FX as well - but been struggling for the right sound. I've now added a kv2 audio kx1.2 powered sub  Much happier...

Expression pedal is changing my presets???

Now, with the expression pedals plugged into the back of the axefx (rather than into the LFJr) it is all working fine. And yes it is certainly stable. Before, with the random patch changing, I was ready to throw it out the window  Richard

Expression pedal is changing my presets???

I've been having the same problem with the same setup. 2 x mission exp pedals > LFJr > axeFx It only happens when I use some param changes and it must somehow confuse CC msgs with PC msgs. I've given up and have plugged the 2 exp pedals into the back of the axeFx and, since doing that have...

    12v AC into MFC-101

Don't do it. By the way, it is high current, not voltage, that blows fuses therefore a fuse will not give you the protection you're seeking with your rather expensive experiment. In Australia we can buy all of the garden variety power supplies from electronics stores - certainly the one you're...

    7 pins VS 5 pins

I probably wouldn't go messing with using other 'unused' wires as the Axe-FX 7-pin midi-in is much more than just standard midi-in. I'm fairly sure the Axe-FX supports simultaneous midi-in and midi-out as well as pins6&7 for power. This explains how we can get away with having just one cable...

Who has removed the display protector?

It has never occurred to me to leave those things on. They always come straight off on the way out of the box. I do however add my own screen protectors to phones, gps, cameras and other high "touch" devices. Richard

    7 pins VS 5 pins

If you don't have pins 6 and 7 then you will not be able to send power from the small power socket above the "midi in" socket to your foot controller. In my case, I plug 9vac into this so that my LF-Jr only needs one cable (7pin midi) running across the floor. I can use a 5 pin midi cable but...

    Please help,volume pedal problem.

James, that was a beautiful reply! James is Mission Engineering and he neglected to say in his humble reply that you should take a look at his products. Powering Liquid Pro In Uk

Should be really easy. In Australia I just went down to the local electronics store (Jaycar) and picked one up for not very much. 9Vac, 1000mA - Note the 'ac' bit is very important - it's not the 9Vdc that most pedals use. Just remember that - as it takes a while to understand if you haven't...

    Axe Fx in Oz?

I've heard a few people have managed to get theirs through Australian Customs without duty however this is rare and unlikely. Cliff now puts all the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) paperwork in and it seems this get the duty down to 5% - that's what I got anyway. Richard
