    Trailertrash Pedalboard Arrived Today

This is actually the old version, I've switched up to an AX8 last year, checkout my new build on the same board. https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/ax8-patchbay-build.141970/

Friedman ASM-12 or ASM-10 - Which FRFR Should I Buy?

Curious about the durability, as thats not something I had heard before. I do not mind if the finish gets scratched, I'm more concerned with it straight up breaking (like the DXR10). As I mentioned in my post, I'm using it for a live stage monitor, not a backline. the ASC12 is not really ideal...

Friedman ASM-12 or ASM-10 - Which FRFR Should I Buy?

Yeah, that was my take from the reviews that I've read. I'm a big fan of "make it sound like an amp/cab". I don't want a sterile stage experience.

Friedman ASM-12 or ASM-10 - Which FRFR Should I Buy?

I've used a DXR10 and was not really happy with it. The sound was not acceptable and I was not a big fan of the plastic housing. I actually managed to crack the shell on mine before I got rid of it simply from the rigors of regular gigging. I did look at Xitone and Atomic, but neither of which...

Friedman ASM-12 or ASM-10 - Which FRFR Should I Buy?

Trying to decide between the 2. I do not have anywhere locally that I can demo them. Will be used for my live stage monitor in 2 hard rock bands. The ASM-10 is slightly appealing because 1) Its a bit cheaper, and 2) It weighs a good bit less. However, I see a lot of good praise for the ASM-12...

    Trying to Make This Work

Wait. Why would you need to switch presets for this? Unless the amp tones are vastly different for all 3, you should be able to handle them all within a single preset and just scene swap. Worst case is the clean requires an x/y on the amp to get the right tone.

Output 2 Echo louder than output 1

Was set to -10. Should +4 match output 2?
  9. Frank L.

Output 2 Echo louder than output 1

I have output 2 echo set to output 1. I configured all my levels to be a consistent -12db average at 1oclock on the output 1 volume knob. Everything sounds great coming out of output 1. However, if I plug the same speaker into output 2, the volume is significantly louder. If I turned the output...

    AX8 Patchbay Build

Thanks! Now to battle test it on stage in a couple weeks. See how it holds up.

    AX8 Patchbay Build

Just finished getting everything wired up. Works like a champ and looks great IMO!

    AX8 Patchbay Build

Good point. a small powered USB hub would probably work. Maybe for another revision, I do not have a need to edit wirelessly right now (I dont do edits on stage)
  13. Frank L.

    AX8 Patchbay Build

Hrm, that's an interesting idea. I wonder if the usb port on the UD-BT01 would work as a pass through. Effectively allowing me to edit wireless via Fracpad, or to plug in to my laptop. Anyone try this?

    AX8 Patchbay Build

So I'm a huge fan of making things myself. After recently switching over from the FX8 to the AX8, I knew I needed to redesign my board a bit. There were a handful of goals in mind when starting this build: I wanted to move my wireless to the pedalboard (use to be in the backline) Only 1 power...

URGENT - 4 day recording session - Master volume snapped off

If you plan on replacing the pot anyways, perhaps get it set where you want it and drop a tiny bit of superglue onto the broken part. It'll probably keep it from moving anymore. Just be extremely careful not to get it on anything else.

Out 1 to Board and Out 2 to CLR?

That's effectively what the output 2 is designed to use. So yes. :)
  23. Frank L.

Out 1 to Board and Out 2 to CLR?

It may work, but it's certainly not optimal. You're going from an unbalanced with Humbuster to a balanced input. The CLR has combo connectors, there's no reason to not just use a regular guitar cable.
  24. Frank L.

Out 1 to Board and Out 2 to CLR?

Do not use a TRS to XLR cable on out 2. Just use a regular guitar cable. The OUT 2 jack is a Humbuster and not wired for a regular TRS/XLR configuration.

AX8 output to FOH + monitors

I could just not connect the ring, effectively making it a TS cable.
  26. Frank L.

AX8 output to FOH + monitors

Perfect. I'll probably use a TRS since I already have one, and this option makes use of the humbuster feature I assume (though its likely not needed in this case).
  27. Frank L.

AX8 output to FOH + monitors

Ok. That makes more sense. Thanks!
  28. Frank L.

AX8 output to FOH + monitors

AX8 output to FOH + monitors

So basically just wire it exactly like a humbuster cable?
  32. Frank L.

AX8 output to FOH + monitors

So I'm building a junction for all the AX8 inputs/outputs so make it easier at gigs to just plug in, and also reduce wear and tear on the jacks of the AX8. In this, I'm using OUTPUT 1 as my FOH output. I plan to wire the existing XLR output to a Neutrik XLR jack on my board. For the monitor...

    Looking for Powercon distribution box

I'm revamping my board setup, and need 3 powercon connectors on it. I currently have a custom built power box that has powercon in, and has a wire attached that goes into my FX8 (See attached, existing powercon junction has white box around it). This works well, except I plan on moving my...

The Hum that will not die......

If you haven't solved this yet, try connecting your amp and fx8 to the same power strip. That was the problem I was having with mine. Now I just keep a 25ft power cable to follow my snake back to my amp, no more hum.

For The Love of God! (Legacy Help)

With my 5150iii, the problem went away when I had my board and amp on the same power circuit. Kind of a pain, but I just got a 25' power cable and ran it back to my amps power block.

    Mesa F50 channel switching

Oh jeez, it is a 5 PIN. I was looking at the back and realized I was looking at the headphone/line out. I think I found some information on how to make the custom cable for it. Thanks for the help.
  43. Frank L.

    Mesa F50 channel switching

I'll admit, I havent dug into this too far. I'm thinking about purchasing an F50 and want to know if the TRS jack on the back is capable of being switched from the FX8? Most of the stuff I've read has been all over the place. Someone even suggested it was a 5pin DIN connector, but as far as I...

    Trailertrash Pedalboard Arrived Today

Thanks. It's a small company, but odd you never got a return call. Peter picked up after a few rings and answered all my questions promptly. He had 1 left in Stock so I went ahead and ordered it on the spot. No regrets!
  45. Frank L.

    Trailertrash Pedalboard Arrived Today

That looks great! I'm pretty sure these boards are the best you can find for the FX8/AX8 without spending an arm and a leg on something custom.

    Global Volume Pedal Question

Yeah, I ran into the same problem. I believe you can adjust the sensitivity and curve, but I'm not sure if its available at the global level. Also, just made this thread: https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/set-max-and-min-value-for-global-volume-pedal.124250/

Wish Set Max and Min value for Global Volume Pedal

Would be nice to be able to set these values at the global level. Right now, I'm having to insert a VOL block in every preset so I have this functionality. I never use the volume pedal to completely mute (thats what the guitar nob is for), but do use to to set a "quiet" level for accompaniment...

Wow.. I literally just bought a USED mkI for not much less than this.
  50. Frank L.

Love the FX8 - and why I didn't buy one (at least not yet)

I think he means, you cant save specific effect settings for use later in other presets. You can do this in FX8-Edit, but its not possible on the unit itself. EDIT: For clarity, what I mean is saving effects "templates" I guess is what they would be called. In FX8-Edit, you can create a...

    Trailertrash Pedalboard Arrived Today

Thing is super secure. I cant begin to express how well built it is. For the price, I dont think you can go wrong. I was thinking of getting a temple board with a bag, and it would have cost more than this did after all the plugs and such. A quality road case and board for $300 is steal.
  52. Frank L.

    Trailertrash Pedalboard Arrived Today

Thanks! The snake is attached to the board. There's enough room in the case to coil the snake (its 30ft long and 1/2" diameter) and power cable on top of the FX8 and close up the lid.

    Trailertrash Pedalboard Arrived Today

Got my new custom snake all finished and mounted up. Going to replace a couple of the connectors with TRS and make them humbusters.
  59. Frank L.

    Hiss at rehearsal space

Yes, I realize this. The cables I used have 3 conductors, I was just not using the drain shielding on the TS connectors. (I'm using Redco mulicore wire for my pedalboard snake). EDIT: That being said, I'm not sure if I've even seen a 2 conductor audio cable. Most of the ones I've used had 2...

    Hiss at rehearsal space

Not using humbusters, built my own cables.. Though in hindsight I'll probably get a couple TRS connectors and make them humbusters. I'm using Ev1s for my expression pedals.
  61. Frank L.

    Hiss at rehearsal space

Well. It was a combination of things. The power in my rehearsal space is questionable. After trying other plugs I finally found if I plugged my amp into the same plug as my board, the problem went away. Oddly enough, if I plugged both in by the amp, the problem still existed. So solution...

    Hiss at rehearsal space

The only difference between the at home test and the rehearsal area is the wireless unit. Mostly because I forgot to bring the transmitter home. I've used the wireless unit (Line 6 G50) for years without any issues, being that its digital it shouldn't be susceptible to interference like this...
  63. Frank L.

    Hiss at rehearsal space

Ya, I guess that sounds right. It definitely has that "terrible wireless audio" sound going on. (I am using wireless, but its digital and doesnt make any noise)
  64. Frank L.

    Hiss at rehearsal space

Also, before anyone asks. Its not a ground loop hum. (60Hz). Its more "staticy" kind of sound.
  65. Frank L.

    Hiss at rehearsal space

So I spent some time over the weekend setting up all my presets/scenes. I have a noise gate in the loop for when I am on my high gain channel of my amp (EVH 5150iii). I gated fairly aggressively to kill any noise, and it seemed to work fine at home. Fast forward to band rehearsal yesterday...

Regarding the shipping. They charge only actual shipping costs. So best bet is to either contact them or check fedex.com for a shipping rate. The shipped weight was 21.5 lbs (9.75 kgs) and the dimensions were 30x17x9 in. (76.2x43.2x22.9 cm) EDIT: They ship from Arvada, Colorado

    Trailertrash Pedalboard Arrived Today

The inside measutements on the case are 15.5" (39.4cm). To the edge of the board that sits in the case, its 14.5" (36.8cm). Given the depth of the FX8 is about 10" (25.4cm), that should leave a fair amount of room to leave cabling in place.
  74. Frank L.

    Trailertrash Pedalboard Arrived Today

The board has all the holes marked. They will drill them out for you if you choose. I wasn't sure on my configuration yet so I had them leave them alone. Is this possible? MIDI switching question...

Its a 7 PIN midi for the input on the Suhr PT100. This provides standard MIDI along with phantom power for the stock foot switch. You just need a 7 to 5 pin converter cable to make it work, it will basically take the 2 extra pins, and provide a DC jack for you to connect to a wall wart or...

    FX8 Global Volume Settings

My FX8 should be showing up next week. Excited to become a new fractal owner. However, I have something setup with my current rig that I'd like to be able to replicate in some way on the FX8. On my current setup, I have a volume pedal in the loop (on a POD HD500), and I have the top sweep of...

BLOWN away by the FX8 mkii....X's Journey

I'd be interested in know how that worked as well. I had thought about getting an AX8, but I love my tubes. If I thought I could get good results with the Ax8 in 4CM, as I would with the fx8, I might go that route. Keeping options open
  82. Frank L.

BLOWN away by the FX8 mkii....X's Journey

Yup! I just need to figure out a way to build a MIDI passthrough "box" of some kind that mounts on the board. I run a pedal snake right now that has 5 MIDI cables that carry everything for the 4CM (plus an actual MIDI signal). I want to put a box on my board so I just have to connect the 4 MIDI...

BLOWN away by the FX8 mkii....X's Journey

Hey X-Mann, Looks like my FX-8 will be here sometime next week most likely. Found a pretty good deal on a used mk1, 2 EV-1 pedals, mounted on a trailer trash board (the one specifically made for the FX8) I'll keep you updated. Definitely want to meet up with you at some point so you can show me...

BLOWN away by the FX8 mkii....X's Journey

Right on brother! I am currently using a POD HD500, which is lacking in just about everything I want right now, and colors my 5153 more than I like, even though I only use a handful of effects. Its fine for most things, but its been glitchy lately and have been having some unity gain issues. (if...

Hey X. Noticed you use to have a 5153 with the FX8. Do you still have some 4CM patches around that you'd be willing to share? I'm about to pull the trigger on an FX8 within the next week or so (my first fractal product) and would love to get someone to help "show me the ropes". Furthermore, I'm...
