Possible Ax8 Issue - Looper?

How many run direct with no onstage cab?

Yeah, I run direct with IEMs. I love it, I'm a big fan of the isolation. It allows me to really hear the nuances of tone.

I think you're gonna want to get a FRFR system for playing loud. Like this: http://atomicamps.com/clr-reference-frfr-monitors/ That way, you'll hear exactly what you're getting from your monitors but loud.

What is sound gap between presets I keep hearing about?

It's much larger than the Axe-FX gap but if you pre-empt it in live situations, it's fine. It's not a giant issue.

No sound when the tuner is on, as intended. However, when I tap a preset to get out of the tuner, the screen goes to the preset, but no sound comes from the preset. It's a bug

I'm getting a lock up where I'm using the large screen display and I turn on the tuner. If I press a preset button instead of tapping the tuner button to turn it off, I lose all sound and have to turn the unit off to get it back.

Marshall type tones in the Axe FX -- How Good ??

Yeah, they're absolutely mint, I predominantly use Marshalls (JCM 800 Mod), (JS410) in my rig as well as Soldanos which are basically hot rodded Marshall amps and they're fantastic!

Just had a 30 minute session with the beta version and it sounds like the high frequencies are getting more and more refined with each upgrade, especially on the high gain amps where the fizz is really crucial to the tone. I dig it.

The FAS Hot Rod is a fantastic sounding model, sounds as great as my main rock rhythm preset with only a small amount of tweaking and good cab choice. Try F127 for epic tones.

One thing I've noticed, not sure if it's specific to this firmware but man..... the preset changes are getting fast. I remember there used to be a little bit of lag when swapping presets but now it's like lightning.

Legendary, thanks Cliff. By the way, these are the release notes: 1.01 Fixed sending IR to a scratchpad location does not update if using Cabinet 2. Fixed several mistakes in Herbie models. Fixed timeout when backing up system data if preset has high CPU usage. Improved CPU usage.

Mono to Stereo

Hey guys, until now, I've been running the Axe Fx XL in Mono. Tonight I tried it in stereo and instantly sounded better straight off the bat. I wanted to see what your experiences were. The signal has not been modified from the mono send. There are reverbs and other blocks in the chain...

No, I think people just get comfortable with what they're used to. Then an update comes along and the tone is slightly different, so as a result, the listen feels that it is slightly out of place.

I have mucked around with this update for a few hours now and it is solid. The first thing I noticed was definitely an increase in the presence of all of the amplifier blocks, so much so that I had to dial some back on pretty much all my presets. It does sound even more realistic than FW19...
