Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 10.01 Firmware Release

Let me add my voice to the chorus thanking Cliff and all at FAS for another great firmware release. I certainly didn't expect any more for the Axe FX II now the III is out. It is much appreciated. I can't really explain why, but I am loving the no-feedback amps with this firmware. I've had a...

Axe Fx with real pedals (Nu Tubescreamer)

Hey Heinzi. Fantastic playing! Did you like the Nu-tube in the Tubescreamer? I picked up a Vox MV50 a few months ago as a 'grab and go' amp which I love (but wish it had a fx loop). Does the Nu tube change the 'feel' of the Tubescreamer?

Help - Trying to recreate this Status Quo sound

There are some great photos of the gig at Bingley Hall in January 1977. It looks like Quo were using a mixture of Marshalls and Sound City amps for that tour - I think Live! is recorded from the same Blue For You tour a few months earlier in October 1976. Have a look a the photo with Rick in...

Is there a resource that categorizes amps by type?

That list was one of my additions to the guide. I'm glad someone else find it useful. :) Something else I like to do is use the colour coding in Axe Edit to tag amps of a certain type. For example, I've tagged the "vox type" amps as purple, tweed fenders as yellow etc.

    Brother s in arms

For me (and I know it is a cliché) but this is THE song that highlights tone is at least as much in the touch and fingers as in the guitar/amp combination. Originally I had the same problem. I get a great Knopfler tone using the Vibrolux amp with the matching Factory Cab (1x12 Brown M160, or the 2x10 Vibrolux Mix). The key for me is putting a compressor in front of the amp and playing with the fingers to get that Knopfler-type attack to the notes. But also don't be afraid to...
