I also need help copying a tone...

Thanks for the help guys. I think I got something fairly close: Tube Drive -> Deluxe Verb -> 4x12 25W -> a bit of mid-scoop. Anyone that's interested: Drive - Tube Drive: LV Tube, 5.5 Drive, 4 Tone Amp - Deluxe Verb: 6.43 Drive, 6.10 Bass, 2.83 Mid, 8.86 Treb, 8.03 Presence, 9.17 Volume, boost...

Thanks for the input. The response I got somewhere else also mentioned OD in front of Fender. With my experiementation last night this seems to be the closest so far.

I also need help copying a tone...

Need help with this lead guitar tone... Camila - Todo Cambio - YouTube You can catch glimpses of what I think is the guitar amp behind the singer/pianist in the video, assuming it's not just there for show, but I can't really make it out. I'm using AxeFx Ultra, I don't expect anyone to...

    Help copying a tone..

Unfortunately sansamp psa1.1 is an analog amp modeler and has many settings (not as many as Axe Fx). So that actually doesn't help much unless he tells you the settings he used on the sansamp.

Noob question about MIDI cables & LF+ JR+

So I have the LF+ JR+ on order. Looks like they finally got through the manufacturing issue. I'll need to get a 7-pin MIDI to go from Axe FX to LF+ JR+, with phantom power and all that good stuff. I heard Besttronics has good cables. How long of the cable are you guys getting? Is 25 ft too...

Is there "Best practices for setting relative volume"?

I always throw in a filter block at the end, and use that to adjust the volume. They're cheap CPU-wise, and there are 4 of them. This way when I pull up a patch and I need to adjust the level, I would know where to go always. I have bad memory, so I don't want to hunt for it.

Anybody know what's going on at FAMC???

Looks like I griped a day early. Either that or I'm so awesome that FAMC follows me around and read my posts. Got an email from FAMC saying exactly what I said they should be telling their customers. It was an issue of the case rework that caused the delay. Would have been better if they sent...

Anybody know what's going on at FAMC???

Well, if they're sitting around doing nothing because they have to wait for the manufacturers to rework the cases, then it'd be plenty of time to respond to customer emails right? While I understand some people have the attitude of... I don't care what went wrong, when I have money to give...

    Fake feedback

Thanks, I'll check out that patch. The problem with the old fashioned approach is... I only have a QSC K8 as monitor on the floor in front of my foot controller... And we play small shows at low volumes... Hence I just want to fake it.

Anybody know what's going on at FAMC???

I submitted my order request for LF+ JR+ over a month ago. A couple of weeks back I emailed them, and got the "your order is on the top of the queue, we'll email you when it's ready" type response, then nothing. Still waiting...

    Fake feedback

I want to create a patch where it fakes feedback, you know, like when you crank the amp, hold the note on your guitar, and it transitions into a feedback note. Do I just use a pitch shifter and sort of "cross-fades" to it? Thanks!

Okay/Legal to Sell Ownhammer/Redwirez With Axe?

It's just much easier to just delete the IR's. In fact, I would also do a factory reset, maybe even reload the factory banks. RedWirez will let you re-download your purchase, you can use the AxeFX II versions of your IRs. OwnHammer I think has some tool that will let you convert to AxeFx II...

Exactly How much better is a RCF NX12SMA over a QSC K12 ?????

I have QSC K's. K12 and K8. I think they sound good. I haven't heard RCF, and from what I've read, they seem to be the next level, both in terms of sound quality and price. So it's possible that I like the K's because I haven't heard anything better. But, I've also read entire threads dedicated...

    Guitar Control Pro Phantom Power?

Mine is working. You have a couple of options. 1) Plug the GCP power brick into the Axe, and use a 7-pin MIDI cable to go to GCP. The 7-pin MIDI cable has to have pins 6 and 7 wired. People seem to like BestTronic cables. 2) Get a 5-7pin MIDI cable. 7-pin end goes into GCP, the 5-pin end goes...

    axe fx 2 price drop!

Yeah, that's how I feel too. I'm happy with the Ultra. The price drop does make me think about it, so I can be like all the other cool kids. But I don't want to have to re-do all my patches. I think I'll hold out for Axe III.

    FRFR/Direct to PA help needed!!!

Ideally, you want to dial in your tone in the exact same situation that you'll be playing at, with the exact same equipment. When you switch equipment, don't expect things to translate. Even when you dial in your tone using the exact same equipment, but at bedroom level, it could sound different...

Difference between Axe-FX and virtual instrument programs

If your recording interface is not-so-good, it could have human detectable latency. Hence some interfaces have direct out monitoring while you're recording your track. It bypasses all that processing, and gives you a direct out tap, making the latency a problem that the computer has to deal...

Midi keyboard to control axe-fx II ?

I don't see why not, especially for controller type keyboards like the Axoim. I never played with one, but I'd expect that it could send out program changes and other MIDI messages. But the problem is, if you're playing guitar, you'd need a third arm to push buttons and turn the expression wheel.

Turning on muliple effects with one switch

I use an extra block (Filter 4) because this way I can set one of the IA switches to Filter 4 always. If I use different blocks in different patches, say amp block in one, PEQ block in another, then when I set my foot controller, I'd have to remember which block is the "switch point" for that...

    laptopguitar through axe fx ultra

Hey, that's a neat trick. Never thought to use one of the channels for the click track. Awhile back I saw some crazy contraption where it can do beat detection by listening to the drummer in real time, and sends the tempo to all connected MIDI devices. And as the drummer speeds up or slows...

Band is now all Axe-fx for guitars

Haha awesome. My band plays small gigs so we manage our own sound usually. But awhile back we played a larger gig with a sound guy. He was surprised that all I needed was direct in. But good luck with the drummer. What I've heard (I kind of play, but I wouldn't consider myself a drummer) is...

Turning on muliple effects with one switch

What I do, is that I'll setup a block of something I'm unlikely to use, say like Filter 4 (because there are 3 other filters you can use), and chain the effects I want behind it. Then I set the bypass to mute. So when you toggle Filter 4, it mutes everything after it. But for this to work you'll...

    Going FRFR

What I read... because everything you read on the internet is true, is that QSC did their R&D on K8. Hence it sounds so good. Then they increased the size to make K10 and K12, hence they aren't as "dialed in" as the K8. So I'm not surprised that you prefer the sound of K8 over K12. I haven't...

I like QSC. I think generally you won't go wrong with QSC. But they are expensive. If you just want something to jam at home, I heard the Alto TS11xA series are good bang for the buck. They cost less than $300 I think. You can go check them out. The problem is personal taste. A lot of...

    laptopguitar through axe fx ultra

Yeah, I feel the same way. If you pre-record the guitar tracks with AxeFx, then you just need to find a small portable high-quality play-back device, and that's it. You wouldn't need to drag the AxeFx out to your gig, or even laptop + presonnus. I mean if you want to go ultra compact, put the...

    MIDI connection woes....

I'm not upgrading to AxeFx II (using Ultra). So I'm stuck using the MIDI when using AxeEdit. Currently I have MIDI Merger from MIDI Solutions, so I merge the outputs of the Ground Control Pro with the PC. Everything works great. I can switch patches, I can edit patches, life is good...

FRFR question regarding Alto TS115A V2

Thanks! I found it too. I read that there won't be enough room for XLR cable, but I also found the right-angled XLR cables. So looks like one trip to the hardware store, one trip to the music store, and I should be good to go.

FRFR question regarding Alto TS115A V2

I ended up going with QSC K8. I didn't like EV ZXA1 at all. However, one word of caution. After I went home... I realized the K8, unlike the K10 or K12, does NOT have a "floor monitor" position. So you'll have to figure out how to make it stay in the floor monitor position. I'm currently...

    Going FRFR

Well, I went to Guitar Center and listened to EV ZXA1. I didn't like it at all. They didn't have any RCF. And at this point I don't want to buy something I haven't heard, so I went with QSC K8. A bit more than what I wanted to spend, but I already know I like the K12, plus I heard the K8 at GC...

can you use a Boss GT-10 as a midi controller????

I used to use GT-6 as MIDI controller. You can only do basic program changes, and the pedal does work, because you can map it to an external controller. But it doesn't have any of the nice things that a real MIDI controller can do. Basically, you're locked into "1-1" on the MIDI controller goes...

    Going FRFR

Some people say they sound better than QSC K's. Personally I'm looking at either the EV ZXA1, because it's so small and light, I don't like lifting. Or the RCF ART 310A. Can't decide. For me, my band doesn't play loud, so power isn't an issue. If you need to "carry the room", not sure if these...

    O/P to rack tuner?

Yeah, if the tuner has true bypass then it's not really an issue. Some manufacturers will use "hard bypass" or "hardwired bypass" or something, and as far as I know, that not true bypass, and your signal could suffer. An alternate solution, if you want guitar > tuner > axe, is to use a high...

FRFR question regarding Alto TS115A V2

I'm actually looking for the same as well. My band isn't loud, and we have a pair of QSC K12 as mains. Here's what I've researched so far, so I'll give you my brain dump... The K12 sounds good. But I read that due to the DSP processing, it tends to cause feedback when used as a monitor. Not...

    Expression pedals

    Boss FV-500H Linear Expression Pedal?

Yeah, a lot of people use them. I like them. The H version I think is meant to have a guitar plugged in directly, i.e. being used as a volume pedal as opposed to expression pedal. The H stands for hi-z I think, passive guitar pickups like to be plugged into high impedance inputs. Buffered...

An Axe-Fx II with the 4CM seems the perfect setup, but all that AD/DA/AD??

To me, AxeFx's primary function is an excellent replacement for a real amp, and the fact that the effects are top-notch as well is a bonus. So if you DON'T want the amp sim, which is totally understandable; some people have very strict tone requirements, then to me, maybe AxeFx isn't exactly...

    Buy FX ultra

Yeah, it's great for recording because you don't need to learn how to mic an amp correctly. Normally, you just plug the output of your AxeFX to the input of your audio interface, hit record... done. AxeFX II has the additional USB audio interface, so you can just plug directly into your...

Bringing the connections to the front

Hello, I have my AxeFx in a 4U rack. I'd like to bring the connections (output, MIDI), to the front of the rack, so I don't have to reach back there every time. The XLR and 1/4" connections are easy. Hosa makes a 1U modular patchbay that could make this work. But they don't have MIDI... At...

    Buy FX ultra

I have an Ultra, and I'm fine with it. The MIDI is clunky, since I prefer to edit my patches on my PC, USB would have been nicer. But I don't care about recording interface, I have RME for that. But I do like the fact that AxeFX II has 50 user cab slots, but Ultra only has 10 -- I recently...

RIG IDEA!!! Let me know what you think? :)

Axe Fx Ultra is kind of pricey to be used for only effects. If you want to go that way, why not look at TC Electronic G-System or something like that? Great effects, already comes in floor control form factor so you don't have to get another piece of gear. It has no amp sims, but you wanted to...

Where 'in general' are you amp level settings and your output knob setting

I kept running into clipping problems with some of my patches, so earlier this week I went though all the ones I use for my band, and dropped 10db for every one. Basically, I put a filter block in the chain right after the cab with -10db. This makes it easier for me in case I need to adjust it...

Whats everyone using for a foot controller???

Boss GT-6 LOL. I needed a MIDI controller, and had my old GT-6 laying around. It gets the job done. I wonder if some people thought I was getting the Axe FX sound from the GT-6. And I have an Ernie Ball VP Jr. as the 2nd expression (GT-6 has its own). Going to get Liquid Foot Jr.
