AXE FX ULTRA BENT FACEPLACE and NO PRESETS new out of box!

Re: AXE FX ULTRA BENT FACEPLACE and NO PRESETS new out of bo UPS did the same to the Standard I ordered but at least I could plug it in and play it. I promptly decided to upgrade to an Ultra... :D Fractal was excellent in getting a replacement out. Other than the inconvenience of a few days I...

My FRFR Shootout (QSC, Verve, RCF, JBL)

Thanks, that helps. I am guessing the 12ma's may have a little more kick, 300w vs 400w rating? I really like the 12ma for the Axe but it'd be nice to be able to do occasional double duty without having to sink cash into a pair of different speakers.

My FRFR Shootout (QSC, Verve, RCF, JBL)

I love my 12ma with the Axe. Very clear and open and the dispersion is great. We are usually IEM but I have been thinking about picking up a second one so I can use them for a small PA for rehearsal, coffee house type stuff, guitar and vocals, maybe a keyboard etc. Has anyone used them for a...

The Best Expression Pedal for the Axe FX (Wah and Volume)

Re: The Best Expression Pedal for the Axe FX (Wah and Volume I'm using a couple of Mission EP1-R pedals running into my All Access. One dedicated for volume and the other for wah, reverb levels or whatever. Works great for me.

    Bad Hum

I run into either my 12ma or direct to FOH from the output 1 left XLR and get some 60 cycle noise when the unit is off also but it's not that big of a deal. I did notice it got louder a few weeks back though but couldn't nail anything down when I tried to track it. I ended up switching the...

    Citrus RV50!

The Citrus has been my main amp since it was added, great crunchy richness and good dynamics. It's in a fight right now though with the Marsha BE and HBE. There are so many great sounds to pick from in this thing.

    IEM and the Axe-Fx

I use Atrio Future Sonics and usually run a split from the monitor feed to one side and the Axe to the other and blend to taste on the receiver. One thing I like about the Atrios is they are pretty rich sounding on the low end but still maintain clarity.

    "Out For Delivery" -- Hello!

Awesome! I loved my Axe-Fx right out of the box. Did some quick tweaking and gigged the next day with it. It really is pretty intuitive once you learn basic menu navigation. The UPS guy always comes late in the day in my area, I hate having to wait for deliveries.

Want to go wireless, any suggestions?

No doubt the Carvin is absolutely great for the price, it has a ton of features and is very well built. There is nothing close in price that can compete. I just found it a bit too noisy when compared to the Mipro, the jump was worth it for me as I use IEM's all the time. That said if I didn't...

Want to go wireless, any suggestions?

I picked mine up for less than $700 with shipping new in the box. Compared to the Carvin it is dead quiet and zero dropouts. It is really in another league IMHO. I have never had any issues with lack of bass at all. Plenty of thump, kick, bass guitar etc. I question whether the 80hz spec the...

Want to go wireless, any suggestions?

I had the Carvin unit for awhile. It was a great deal for the money but I ended up sending it back and getting a Mipro MI 808. Excellent unit with a true diversity receiver and comparable to Sennheiser but with less dropouts. I use it wth my X2 guitar wireless when I want to wander untethered...

X2 - front or rear input?

I always use the front input with my X2. One of the reasons they work as well as they do is they were designed to give a correct impedance to your guitar on the transmitter and a correct view to the amp from the receiver.

    FRFR in 412 Enclosure

That's an interesting idea. I have an unloaded straight Marshall cab and thought about hiding the 12ma in the back for times I want the stage appearance, it would just about fit. :geek: I didn't think about installing the rest in the top though. :ugeek:

Marshall/G System user now torn after hearing AXE

I say make the jump. I used a G-Force with a JMP-1 and a variety of of other tube amp/preamps. The effects alone in the Axe easily surpass the TC unit and I am able to get amp tones I was always searchng for but couldn't find before. Even more important to me is the elusive "it feels right"...

    New Ultra - Initial Impressions

What are you running your Axe into for power? I was thinking the same thing plugging it into a Mesa power amp and various 2x12 or 4x12 configurations. Easy (hopefully) MIDI question (Ground Control + Axe-Fx)

I was looking for a way to assign CC numbers to the top row and it looks like I didn't need to even bother with it, just use the number of the switch itself, hard to believe it would have been that easy.... One thing that I really liked about the older GC is the expression pedal inputs...

Easy (hopefully) MIDI question (Ground Control + Axe-Fx)

Arrgghhh.... I updated mine to 2.5 and had it setup for Bank 4 mode and could never get it to transmit CC commands to the Axe on the top row of switches. I couldn't find anything in the manual and tried everything I could think of. I did find an old thread at HRI that had a limited explanation...

    Ultra Firmware Version 9.00 Released

My understanding, from reading the manual, is that after updating to 9.0 my presets are still effectively operating at 8.9 unless it is one that I have created, tweaked and/or otherwised saved while under the new firmware. When I hit update all presets none of my custom presets were overwritten...

    Ultra Firmware Version 9.00 Released

I am just relating what it says in the manual. I thought it was pretty clear especially in regards to pretty major revisions such as 9.0 but then again I didn't write the revision or manual and don't know all the reasoning behind it. Maybe Cliff or someone who understands more can chime in.

    Ultra Firmware Version 9.00 Released

this thing is very daunting for a noob...

I was able to get some great presets and program a half dozen or so sequential patches on my MIDI controller within a few hours and did a gig the next day. Easy (hopefully) MIDI question (Ground Control + Axe-Fx)

How did you configure the top rows to function as IA's? I fought with my old GC for a few days before putting it on ebay and getting an All Access. I wanted the extra switches and would have done that anyways but it would have been nice to have figured it out.

    Stand for Reactor and Axe?

Here is a pic of an older rig where I used a 2x12 tilted back on the floor and small rack case on the adjustable top section. Worked great and was fairly flexible in regards to height by adjusting the angles of the stand.

Which one is right for me... Ultra or Standard?

I had initially got the Standard but opted to move up to the Ultra. I wanted the multi-band compression, gate/expanders, loopers, arpeggiators and will use the synth stuff occasionally. The extra processing power and memory just seem like a smart thing to me. Plus it says Ultra on it...

Y-cable instead of auxilary inputs on in-ear transmitter

I had the new Carvin unit for awhile. The Carvin was certainly usable but I settled on the Mipro as it was alot quieter. Axe FX Ultra in the house!

That's how I told the missus it was going to be....honest... ;) Even though they are not inexpensive I think the axe fx is easily one of the most cost effective and wisest gear purchases I have ever made. It fills in so many spots and does it well.

Y-cable instead of auxilary inputs on in-ear transmitter

Actually that is how I run mine. I set the receiver on mono and it gives me both signals in both ears with the balance control on the receiver functioning as a "more me" adjuster for my guitar. We don't run our monitor mixes in stereo anyways so mono doesn't lose anything there. I am using a...
