Allow me to swim against the stream for a few more posts, I'm losing social credit but the sound is far more important.

Double Verb Normal with Gain = 1.
Power Amp (including phase inverter?) = OFF

I must assume this horrid distortion is coming from the preamp.
Cliff, please continue investigating this lest this firmware reaches the ears of Steve Vai then we're all cooked. 😆

I hear it through my Ollo S5Xs. It's like a static or grill rattle sound. EDIT: And just saw the post where Cliff was able to reproduce it. Glad it's going to get sorted soon. I'm curious now to know what it was.

I was able to recreate this. I don't know what I did but it just started doing it. It's also measurable. A bunch of even order distortion is being generated at the input of the preamp. I have no idea why. I reran the simulations and they aren't doing it.

I rebooted and it was still doing it. Rebooted again and the problem went away. So there is definitely something odd going on.

I will get to the bottom of it.
Please don’t push it…put your healing first. Anyone affected is able to revert back to previous firmware until you get this fixed. Your health must come first. Merry Christmas to you, your family and to all my fellow forum members.

Clear as day on my studio monitors, FWIW

^^^This. Gotta take care of your health first. Community already has access to plenty of ridiculously amazing tones by just rolling back a firmware. We'll survive just fine, so healing should be paramount without question.

Merry Christmas, All!

Take care of yourself Cliff!

Rediscovering the Splawn Nitrous 1 in this firmware. Blown away. Maybe the best hard-rock tone I've ever heard.

Wishing you the Best, and a healthy recovery Cliff!! Take your time to heal, no rush on any of this, you will get to the bottom of it soon enough!!! best always!

1. The ability to hear harmonic distortion varies from person to person, some can hear 0.1% THD and some can't hear 1% or more, age is a factor too, and the audio equipment of course.
2. Randomly occuring bugs are the nastiest.

Combine the above and you have a audio+software engineering nightmate.
Cliff will fix this in no time.

In addition to your health concerns, please Please PLEASE do not sacrifice your holiday time and energy to try and get this updated tout suit! Relax and enjoy yourself, you have more than earned it. Everybody can roll back or just not update ;~)) I am sure this is churning through your head 24/7 as this is your creation (it is ALIVE), but I hope you can put it down and not feel stressed about a minor issue!!!

Ha...that must be why they're called bugs. Damn things run for cover as soon as you lift the rock.
Which is kinda true… bug indeed comes from the insects but these were times where a computer was sized like a living room and if you had a bug, it literally meant that an insect caused some electrical components or circuit boards to fail…

Anyway, Cliff I hope you’re getting well soon and spend the best holidays possible with your family!

I hear the same anomaly with the update. However, I won't roll back but rather will wait to find a work around or wait to see if there is an update.
The reason I say this is because, being on this forum for a very long time, I've learned there are usually some adjustments to be made with every firmware update. There's one thing I know, if there's an issue the team will find it and fix it. I'm on my 6th AXE FX for a reason.

I’d vote yea if Cliff would decide to slower or freeze firmware updates to focus on the health recovery, next gen development, or knowledge transfer to enable others to improve amp models and others implemented by FASPICE.
Please take care.

Yep. Cliff ALWAYS fixes stuff. Fractalized since 2012.

BUT I really hope he takes some time off.

I just did a quick and easy practical setup with the Double Verb Normal in the Amp block and a couple Dyna-Cab 2x12 IRs in the Cab block and it sounds very good through a couple FRFR 10s in my office..

regarding your health @FractalAudio I can imagine your close friends call you a workaholic.. and telling you to slow down probably irritates you.. so instead I'll just say do you.. we're in awe of you and in gratitude towards you.

Just tried your preset @kit dunborg and it sounds fine on my end. I can clearly hear the distortion happening on the posted samples here, though. Just to confirm so I didn't get anything wrong: You guys roll down the tone knob on the guitar? Tried it with disabled cab and poweramp sim, tone know down, multiple reboots - can't make that little gremlin show up. :D

I'm in a mood for a christmas bug hunt now...

It's random. It's been fixed for the next release.
