    Shimmer Pad [Video]

Great stuff. I used a stock preset from the AxeFX Ultra on one of our songs that this reminds me of: I wasn't able to recreate that sound when I switched to the AX8, so this will be a fitting replacement , tvm! :)

What is the truth about "Cab Packs"

I've bought a few cab packs, and always went back to a few of the stock ones. YMMV!

    AX8 Hard Case

There are no Fractal cases, but if you do a search on here you'll find a few suggestions for cases from various suppliers, typically toolbox type things. None are absolutely perfect, but they'll do the job with a little bit of tweaking.

    Wah turning on by itself

I've had this happen with no pedal plugged in. I've removed the wah block from my patches as I didn't use it very often anyways. But still, it's a weird one. If I looked at the controller screen, the little ball was jumping around the bottom of the line. Very strange.

Help needed! Lost the x/y function. Gig tonight..

Have you accidentally changed one of these options, maybe? https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1187063/Fractal-Audio-Ax8.html?page=93

    AX8 damage

So, who has the most busted up AX8? We all like to look after our expensive bits of kit but regular gigging, flights, vans, local crews and the occasional drunken mishap is always going to take a toll. Mine has lost a couple of rubber feet and acquired quite a few scrapes and dents - one right...

New video from my band - AX8 content

Well, in a "it's a small world" fashion - the drummer we had from 2008 until 2017 was the drummer from Sweet Savage (Metallica covered their track Killing Time) and when Vivian Campbell left that band to join Dio, he literally took some of the riffs with him - so tracks we all think of as...

New video from my band - AX8 content

Recorded in my home studio using my AX8 and my Jackson KV2s and KV4 with a variety of EMG pickups. I'm using the Das Metall and 5153 50W Blue models, with the Cali cab. I preferred the guitar sounds before mastering, to be honest, they definitely lost something in that process, but oh well.

    Chorus for Lead

I've started doing this on lead parts live, basically because Zakk does it (or so I've read) Started out with a basic digital mono chorus, dialled the mix back to 30% or so, and it sounded pretty good when I did a gig with it. I'm sure it could be tweaked to something better but the idea works...

    Amps vs cabs

Good amp sims are important for sure. But I reckon the cab sim is more important. Like I wonder if you were to put a freebie install of a LePou VST amp sim through your AxeFX with just a cab block, would it be all that different from many of the amp sims in the AxeFX.

    Amps vs cabs

Certainly not cranked to the gills, by any stretch of the imagination, but my main tine tends to be a hi-gain amps, yes. The same basic idea holds true for clean sounds though. You can cycle through a lot of the Fender amps, for example, and get much less of a tone variation than cycling...

    Amps vs cabs

I spent a few hours last weekend going through (and recording) lots of different amp/cab combos in an effort to get something a bit more like an Iced Earth tone. Turns out my regular Cali cab actually came closest with a few different amps, even though that's not even close to what Jon Schaffer...

    No Powered version?

What, like an amplifier, you mean? ;) Seriously though, a powered version would be great for fly gigs - no relying on there being a head with an FX loop you can plug into.

    New Boss GT1000 !

The handwritten note from G66 with my AX8 was a nice touch. Sure, I like getting stuff from GAK and Thomann etc too, but it was nice to have the personal touch.

What is everyone doing for AX8 reverb these days ?

I stopped using reverb live a long time ago (completely unnecessary, I found) and in the studio I've always recorded dry and used the reverbs in ProTools. It is fun to crank up the reverb and pretend you're Devin Townsend sometimes though, but you can dedicate a few patches to that :)
