Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 10.01 Firmware Release

Let me add my voice to the chorus thanking Cliff and all at FAS for another great firmware release. I certainly didn't expect any more for the Axe FX II now the III is out. It is much appreciated. I can't really explain why, but I am loving the no-feedback amps with this firmware. I've had a...

2 x videos, preset, Q10.01 BE C45 with SG and Tele in bluesy dynamic.

Fantastic playing (as usual)! But most importantly, where can I get that t-shirt? :)

Factory Cabs In the II - Sorting Them

I pulled this together a little while ago but never got around to sharing it. I think it is still up to date but let me know if you spot any mistakes. I've got a Mk II, so only the first 132 Factory Cabs, but I also added Cab Pack 1 given it is free to download: Fractal Cabinet IRs - Factory...

Fractal Audio AMP models: Das Metall and Dizzy V4 (Diezel VH4)

I came across this great video with Peter Diezel and Peter Stapfer discussing the amp's development and demo'ing the Silver version: Perhaps a native German speaker can explain the cow's tail /shelf joke ?! :) I'm a fan of the Blue Channel 2 model with humbuckers (and Presence cranked, of...

    Brian May Sound

Have you watched the Brian May Star Licks video? I haven't tried myself, but it might be an alternative/better source for Tone Matching. It certainly gives lots of interesting insight into how Brian builds up the sound if you haven't seen it before. I understand what you are saying about...

Axe Fx with real pedals (Nu Tubescreamer)

Hey Heinzi. Fantastic playing! Did you like the Nu-tube in the Tubescreamer? I picked up a Vox MV50 a few months ago as a 'grab and go' amp which I love (but wish it had a fx loop). Does the Nu tube change the 'feel' of the Tubescreamer?

Help - Trying to recreate this Status Quo sound

There are some great photos of the gig at Bingley Hall in January 1977. It looks like Quo were using a mixture of Marshalls and Sound City amps for that tour - I think Live! is recorded from the same Blue For You tour a few months earlier in October 1976. Have a look a the photo with Rick in...

Is there a resource that categorizes amps by type?

That list was one of my additions to the guide. I'm glad someone else find it useful. :) Something else I like to do is use the colour coding in Axe Edit to tag amps of a certain type. For example, I've tagged the "vox type" amps as purple, tweed fenders as yellow etc.

Vintage Fender cabinet/speakers and WGS IRs

The Ownhammer 212-GTR MAR-66 Multi-Speaker Collection has IRs of an 1964 8-ohm Jensen C12N (in a Marshall 1966B 2x12 Cab) The Cab Factory BigBox bundles had IRs of WGS Speakers (ET90, BlackHawk, Black & Blue, G12C/S, G12A). The site is still down, but if you email Andy at The Amp Factory...

    Brother s in arms

For me (and I know it is a cliché) but this is THE song that highlights tone is at least as much in the touch and fingers as in the guitar/amp combination. You are better off spending time getting the finger style down and the dynamic touch that Knopfler has on this track than trying to get the...

    In Ear Monitoring

If you have set up the preset as in the video, it should work. I've attached a simple one that works for me. It includes the slight reverb and enhancer that I use for the IEM path. @Mano_Finland - maybe you can give the preset a try and let us know if it works for you. Your "man with the...

Fractal Audio DRIVE models: Treb Boost (based on Dallas Rangemaster)

There is a brief mention of the Rangemaster used by Rory in "British Rock Guitar" by Dan Hughes from 1977, talking about how it can clean up when used with a Strat: "He originally played the Strat (and still does occasionally) through an old Vox AC-30 bass amp, later adding a Rangemaster treble...

Fractal Audio DRIVE models: Timothy (based on Paul Cochrane's Timmy)

@Burgs - I loved the demo of the Timmy! Comedy and a pedal demo! :) Judging by the age of the video, I'm sure your daughter would be cringing at it now :)

    In Ear Monitoring

Originally I had the same problem. Depending on what monitors you have, you may have something like a Line Out, or Thru output on the monitor itself (usually used so you can daisy chain monitors together). For example, we used to have Behringer F1320D monitors. They have an output called Link...
