Is it common to use reverb on high gain presets?

Not really common to use reverb on high gain guitars no, but check out Devin Townsend, he uses lots of reverb on everything, even high gain guitars, and I really mean LOTS.

Matchless Chieftan Quantum Tone - Ambient

Huh, never tried this amp out, mostly go for a AC-30ish sound with my clean/breakup tones so usually go for the Matchless DC-30, might have to go give this one a go though, sounds great. EDIT: Yup, this model rules, switching my AC-30 scenes for this one.

ML Comparison: Amplitube Mesa Boogie vs Axe-Fx

That Mark IV actually sounded alright, not quite as good as the Axe-Fx(I don't have any experience with the real thing so can't really say which one is the closest, just which one subjectively sounds better), but switching the IR on the Amplitube model to Cab Pack 7 definitely did a lot. The...

Taming high gain "hiss" without losing treble.

If you're using the bright switch, try turning it off and bring up the bright knob instead, doesn't do exactly the same thing but it's pretty close.

Boogafunk 1X12 Went Away?

From what I can see on the wiki(if it's correct), the factory cab you're referring to was actually number 11, but was switched out during firmware 18, the wiki also tells me it was the Boogafunk Blue, which I suppose would mean it's the link from ownhammer's post above with the ALN-BLU in it :P
