    Pickup magnet swapping?

I love to roll magnets in pickups. I have three I'm using now, an SD Custom ceramic that I changed to A8, a SD Phat Cat that I changed from two A2's to a A3 and un-oriented A5 and a DiMarzio SD that I changed from ceramic to A8. I've never liked ceramics. They just feel too stiff and...

    Three Amps?

That's very interesting info about Keith Scotts rig. I have always admired his tone, especially on the studio albums. Saw them live back when I didn't know who they were (my wife was a fan and wanted to go to the concert). They (and Keith Scott sounded great back then). Don't know if the rig...

REVV Dynamis D40 - "The New Dumble?"

Yeah, that amp has me intrigued also. Trying to keep from buying it but it keeps calling my name. In a world of way too many high-gain amps, this has some very nice features. The clean channel and lower gain second channel sound like it's right in my wheelhouse. My Sweetwater rep called me...

    Caution...bit by the Beta...

Nothing exotic here. I just like choices. I look for great tone, lots of tone colors to tap in and out of. I play mostly clean to lightly overdriven to crunchy rhythm stuff. I use very little heavy distortion or beyond. I don't use very much time domain stuff, just a little reverb to one side...

    Caution...bit by the Beta...

Thanks for all the advice but I'm OK. Yeah, I know about backups, done many in the dozen or so years I've been using Fractal products. I just got complacent, overconfident, careless, and maybe a little bit lazy. So, lesson learned. As I said earlier...its all on me. I'm sure Fractal will shake...

    Caution...bit by the Beta...

Yes, I'm using the FM9 as a pedal platform for the Axe III. Some of my presets on the Axe III where getting CPU intensive and I was having to make choices on which blocks to use. Enter the FM9. Now I can off load drives, filters, EQ's, tremolo, rotary, compressors, etc. from the Axe III. Way...

    Caution...bit by the Beta...

Well, I never had an amp block or cab block since I got it. It still happened.

    Caution...bit by the Beta...

Well my problems with the FM9 continue. What was an intermittent became a constant. Upon starting and then pushing one button (it doesn't seem to matter which button) the FM9 crashes. I turned of the unit and unplugged for at least 10 seconds and it still did not resolve. Installed firmware 5...

    FM9 Firmware Version 6.00 public beta (1)

All my presets do not have an amp block or cab block. I just use it as a pedal platform,(drives, rotary, tremolo, etc. I've never used amp or cab block on the FM9 since I've had it. The CPU usage is also only between 50% and 60% so I'm not running it hot. It's still crashing.

    FM9 Firmware Version 6.00 public beta (1)

I also have freezing up since firmware 6. If I start up and switch from the preset page to the scenes page the FM9 crashes. Restarting does not clear it. I have to unplug the FM9 to get back to normal. This is intermittent. Does not happen every time. I've tried to troubleshoot but I'm coming up...

Dialing in USA Rythm 1 (USA Clean)

I recently re-visited the Mk IV Cln and the Lonestar. Since the recent revision to the preamp tubes these amps have a lot more gain than they used to. I've been having trouble getting them to sound good, too. I had a Mesa Mk IV for about 17 years and the clean section is too hot for my taste...

    Brit 800 2204 vs 2203 thoughts

I have a preset made for both. I like both but I prefer the 2204 by a little bit. It gains up a little later and has a smoother lead tone. The 2203 has more gain and has a snarl to it.

Have you used your AFX3/FC12 and FM9 simultaneously?

I do. But I'm just using the FM9 as a pedal platform, drives, compressors, filters, some time-domain stuff that I don't use that often. So my signal goes into the FM9 first then out to the Axe III. Works great, really adds the options.

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 23.04 Release

Just a note of appreciation to Cliff Chase and Company for the inclusion of the low gain versions of the 2204 and 2203. I've whined about their absence for sometime. They sound great. I built a 2203 and 2204, 8 channel with 4 channels each of the low and high gain amps. Wow, talk about...
