String Gauges, Drop Tuning & Nut Slotting

Greetings, gang! I'm a long time player, and I'm revisiting some things I thought I knew, and am looking for some input. Here in the near future, I'll be outfitting 4 guitars to cover 5 tunings for a hard rock cover band. The tunings will be as follows; Guitar #1- Standard Guitar #2- Drop D...

    Rear input no longer auto?

Bakerman! Haven't seen that name since back in the old Petrucciforum days. If you are the Bakerman I believe you to be, I hope life has been treating you well, my friend! I really appreciate the thorough explanation. This makes a lot more sense now, and while admittedly not as convenient, I...

    Rear input no longer auto?

Interesting. Do you think there would be a big enough difference in tonal quality to justify switching back and forth in the I/O rather than how I have it set now?

    Rear input no longer auto?

It would appear that you were absolutely correct and I am simply an idiot. Thanks for the correction! Still curious about why the input level drops so much when in L+R Sum though

    Rear input no longer auto?

Hey Gang. Love my XL+, but recently experienced something odd. EDIT: Chris pointed out the error of my ways on the first issue, so to make this easier now, I have my I/O Setup as Main Input Source: Analog (1) Input 1 Left select: Front Input 1 Mode: L+R Sum This allows me to have a cable...

Recommendation for FRFR Bass Cab at Gig Volume

I answered Donald's question elsewhere, but just to keep everything up to speed here, he's using a cabinet cable, doesn't unplug or plug in the cab while the amp is on. The ohm rating for both the amp and cab is 4ohms. I will say, I've never heard any audible clipping, but I have seen the light...

Recommendation for FRFR Bass Cab at Gig Volume

Small update. He's not able to determine what the most recent blown cab is, because the information on the back has warn off from years of use. However, the previous cabinet he blew (using this same amp) was a Gallien-Krueger NEO410/4. The amp head is an Eden WTX500.

Recommendation for FRFR Bass Cab at Gig Volume

I wonder if I might be better off just telling him to Ditch both and going with a DXR15, or just getting a power amp and different kind of cab.

Recommendation for FRFR Bass Cab at Gig Volume

Got any suggestions on the best way to go about diagnosing the issue?

Recommendation for FRFR Bass Cab at Gig Volume

I'd love to be able to answer that, but I really can't. I've seen his clip light come on before, but again, the volume isn't extreme. We're talking practice in a room volume. With that, though, the amp head is the only common denominator.

Recommendation for FRFR Bass Cab at Gig Volume

I'll try to get with him on a price point today when he gets out of work. Hopefully I can get a straight answer out of him...he's funny that way, lol. We'll be playing mostly Hard Rock (a little metal here and there), and unfortunately yes, many gigs will be in decent sized bars with no PA...

Recommendation for FRFR Bass Cab at Gig Volume

Hey folks! Long time. :) Short and sweet: Bass player has blown 2 cabs over the years...starting to think it's a problem with his amp head (truly, he's not even THAT loud when this happens). Since he's looking at having to replace these things anyway, I'm trying to talk him into taking full...

    Changing cabs freezes the unit?

Even with the USB cable unplugged, after several changes, it freezes. It's doing it in the onboard cabs as well :(

    Changing cabs freezes the unit?

Greetings. I'm running the up to date version of ARES on my Axe-FX II XL+ and the latest version of Axe-Edit, using Axe-Edit to experiment with some new tones. Decided I wanted to use some of the wonderful ML Soundlabs cabs I've purchased, and almost any attempt to do so immediately freezes the...
