How many run direct with no onstage cab?

Yeah, I run direct with IEMs. I love it, I'm a big fan of the isolation. It allows me to really hear the nuances of tone.

AX8 V7.01 Released

I just plugged this update into the Ax8, fired it up and it sounded beyond incredible. Firmware has reached God-Tier level. The depth of sound and complexity is astounding.

I think you're gonna want to get a FRFR system for playing loud. Like this: http://atomicamps.com/clr-reference-frfr-monitors/ That way, you'll hear exactly what you're getting from your monitors but loud.

Best just to dial in at around 90dB mate. If noise is an issue, use great headphones

What is sound gap between presets I keep hearing about?

It's much larger than the Axe-FX gap but if you pre-empt it in live situations, it's fine. It's not a giant issue.
