I love the BE2017 for about everything at this point. I just reamped a rock and a punk album using the same patch I use for modern heavy stuff with different IR's and gain levels.

Setting the Axe3 up with my DAW question

You can hook your monitors up to the Axe and use it as the sound card. Otherwise your options of using your interface with the Axe would be to use SPDIF. I actually prefer using the Analog outs into my UAD interface. It is an extra conversion, but it's not a problem for me.

Rackmount backing track player

I know there is a big hole in the market for something like this. Alesis IO and an ipad is the way I would go. I know the Roland SPD-SX is pretty reliable, although not rackmounted.

In Cubase you can also setup the Axe as an External FX in Studio > Audio Connections > External FX and you can have it measure it for you. This is useful for all outboard gear.

My studio is a freaking mess right now from ripping things apart. Just sold my Kemper, pedalboard, and Archon 100. Still trying to get the Axe to sound as good as my Archon through the PS-2 into my Mesa cabs.

GetGood Drums snare comparison + ML Bulb Zilla + Darkglass

A great technique with these samples is to bounce the main track with the low snare when you bounce down the drums and then when you do OH and Room - switch Kontakt to the high snare and use that. Works great with Med and High. You could also just bounce down your snare track with the high snare...
