Well I went through a load of settings again and it seems to have worked. TBH I have absolutely no idea what the issue was but definitely a contrast issue. Thank you for all of your suggestions, I just wish I knew exactly what caused the issue and how it was corrected.

I've found those settings and adjusted them but makes no difference. Tried 3 different monitors. Different cables. Also tried every display preset and even created custom ones with different settings but nothing works. It's above my paygrade! The annoying thing is my old iMac worked faultlessly...

I agree, that's what I thought but theres no way of manually adjusting the contrast. Also strange how the screenshot shows the blocks yet in real life it all appears black? I'm going to put a support request in to Apple.

It looks like a contrast issue but latest Mac OS doesn't have that option. USB C Thunderbolt connection.

I've tried 3 different monitors and all the same som it's an issue with the Mac settings. I'll contact Apple support.

Just to prove I'm not mad I took a photograph of the screen and this is how it looks in real life (all black) as opposed to the screenshot which shows the grid. I've tried adjusting all the obvious display parameters but the only manually adjustable one is brightness which makes virtually no...

Thanks everyone. I think I need to research and understand the display parameters more. Strange thing is, I can see the blocks on the screenshot I posted yet the on screen display is all black? Very odd, but probably an easy fix somewhere in the mac settings. User error! Here's a random picture...

I've recently upgraded my old iMac to a new Mac Mini with a Studio Display monitor and the interface is really dark. Is there any way to change settings as it's really difficult to use now?
