They All Sound the Same Part Deux

I don't confess to have good ears nor have I ever played through this real amp so I can't comment on accuracy but with that in mind, my initial thoughts were 1 and 2 sounded very dynamic and pleasing sonically, closely followed by 5, but 3 and 4 were very poor in comparison.

Pretending by Eric Clapton

Has anyone had any success with creating a 'Pretending" preset by Eric Clapton on the the Journeyman album? I think it's one of the best recorded tones ever but can't get close. Probably to do with the vocal wah type tone on the outro solo. Any ideas?

I had a few issues with Quantum firmware tbh, at times it felt a bit 'harsh' but still good. However, 7.01 and 7.02 have been a revelation. I know it's been said so many times but I can't imagine it getting any better than this. Plexi 50 with Shimmer drive is absolutely epic.

Looking forward to the update in view of what Cliff said about the Plexi 50. My main tone for ages has used the Plexi 50 normal and I found it very harsh in this beta so have started looking at other alternatives. Would be nice to go back to the Plexi as nothing quite comes close.

Sounds similar but it pulses and only occurs on the one note and is quite noticeable but completely disappears on adjacent notes/frets.

What a difference a good room makes!

This is really interesting (and coincidentally I've put a new post up on the subject before reading this thread) as I've been experiencing low frequency weirdness every time I play a b note on the low E and A strings so I may have to consider some acoustic treatment in the room.

Now I understand the reason for the behaviour it makes sense to me. I only use simple presets and routing where the first block is 1 and the second (if ever) is 2. I (wrongly) presumed that was the limit of the required functionality. I can see why it should stay as it is and I'll have to be a...

Oh OK, well that just shows my lack of knowledge/understanding!! I thought it always went in order of 1 then 2 where 2 would be used if 1 had already been inserted. Yek would you mind explaining when and why you would use block 2 instead of, or before block 1?

When inserting a block and scrolling down the drop-down menu would it be possible for the choice of block 1 or 2 to come up automatically when hovering over the required block so it's a simple click to choose rather than having to scroll over and physically select the 1 or 2? In other words...

New Lukeather tone

Axe-manage doesn't work with this beta firmware, it's a front panel job chaps. Looking forward to trying this preset.

Something a bit different from our band

That wasn't to my taste. Only kidding, I thought it was great, excellent riffage, great tones and a good groove. Makes a nice change from all the metal stuff. BTW, I like the clarity of the solo tone at the end, do you mind me asking which amp model you used?

Thanks everyone, I would never have thought to try a multiband compressor Simeon so I'll be interested to experiment with that because keeping the dynamic feel at lower gain levels has always been a bit of a challenge for me.

Recommendations for full-bodied clean solo tone?

Greetings fellow Axe-fxists (?) I'd like to create a full bodied smooth clean tone with plenty of character but no hairy break-up or thin/weedy sound which can be used for clean sounding solos. Ideally something that could take a drive block to add some girth without getting into the fuzz...
