They All Sound the Same Part Deux

I don't confess to have good ears nor have I ever played through this real amp so I can't comment on accuracy but with that in mind, my initial thoughts were 1 and 2 sounded very dynamic and pleasing sonically, closely followed by 5, but 3 and 4 were very poor in comparison.

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 14.00

Surprisingly predictable from the big cheese :veryconfused: OK, let's completely derail this thread then, from 1 to 10 how much of a shit you give about which code people know or have used or looked up on wiki, or what they were doing in 1971? I'll start, 0 and 1

Ares on XL+ ... mission possible or impossible!

Some people will never be satisfied, some will, tbh I'm more than happy with my XL and if a new product is developed that in some way is better then great, I'll do my best to buy into it! Whatever happens I'm really happy with my XL.

    Pretending by Eric Clapton

Has anyone had any success with creating a 'Pretending" preset by Eric Clapton on the the Journeyman album? I think it's one of the best recorded tones ever but can't get close. Probably to do with the vocal wah type tone on the outro solo. Any ideas?

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 7.02 Public Beta

I had a few issues with Quantum firmware tbh, at times it felt a bit 'harsh' but still good. However, 7.01 and 7.02 have been a revelation. I know it's been said so many times but I can't imagine it getting any better than this. Plexi 50 with Shimmer drive is absolutely epic.

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 7.00 Public Beta #2

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 7.00 Public Beta #2

Lovely tone Thibault, I've been searching for what I call a 'clean lead tone' for ages and that really nails it. Are you planning on updating any of your preset packs anytime soon? If so it would be lovely if this was included!

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 7.00 Public Beta #2

Looking forward to the update in view of what Cliff said about the Plexi 50. My main tone for ages has used the Plexi 50 normal and I found it very harsh in this beta so have started looking at other alternatives. Would be nice to go back to the Plexi as nothing quite comes close.

    3 Sigma Audio IR's

Just a quick update. The acoustic IR's are fine but need some volume tweaks. I've only tried the piezo and electric ones as I don't have an acoustic to try out the soundhole IR's. Anyway, the main thing is the normal cab IR's are stunning and well worth a try. I've tried several of the cab...

    3 Sigma Audio IR's

I haven't really kept up with the latest developments so forgive my ignorance if there is an obvious answer to this. I've just purchased a few IR's from 3 Sigma Audio (some cabs and acoustic IR's) and they come with Fractal Audio folders but these still have .wav extensions whereas I thought...

Anyone not a fan of Quantum 6?

My initial impression is that my main tones are slightly more 'in your face' and somewhat 'harsher' for want of a better description but not in a particularly bad way, just different. They have the impression of more drive or gain but I think it is more of an eq change than simply reducing the...

    Preset charging creators

I think the fact that the end-product happens to be a preset is largely irrelevant, it's simply a question of people seeking to be compensated for their time and expertise which is something most of us do if we work for a living and the principle is exactly the same. It would be hypocritical to...

Low Frequency hum - wtf - help!

Well I did have a big old clear-out of the clutter that had accumulated in my music room so it is now much tidier, that may be the cause? Not really something I've ever come across before. What a difference a good room makes!

This is really interesting (and coincidentally I've put a new post up on the subject before reading this thread) as I've been experiencing low frequency weirdness every time I play a b note on the low E and A strings so I may have to consider some acoustic treatment in the room.

    A remarkable coincidence?

Lol, never been much of a guitarist (or a lover) tbh but I love the way Quantum FW has changed something in the way the AxeFX responds, it feels so much more dynamic and lively, everything seems to cut through better and I can really feel more of a connection when I play through it. As most...

    Small wish?

Now I understand the reason for the behaviour it makes sense to me. I only use simple presets and routing where the first block is 1 and the second (if ever) is 2. Small wish?

Oh OK, well that just shows my lack of knowledge/understanding!! I thought it always went in order of 1 then 2 where 2 would be used if 1 had already been inserted. Yek would you mind explaining when and why you would use block 2 instead of, or before block 1?
  92. Coldsummer

    Small wish?

When inserting a block and scrolling down the drop-down menu would it be possible for the choice of block 1 or 2 to come up automatically when hovering over the required block so it's a simple click to choose rather than having to scroll over and physically select the 1 or 2? In other words...

Greetings fellow Axe-fxists (?) I'd like to create a full bodied smooth clean tone with plenty of character but no hairy break-up or thin/weedy sound which can be used for clean sounding solos. Ideally something that could take a drive block to add some girth without getting into the fuzz...
