Are we done? - updates to our Axe-Fx II (Mark II) ?

Well, Cliff did post this on Sep 29th and then has not said anything else about it since then: "FWIW, I'll be porting some of the Axe-Fx III 9.xx changes this week. I woke up yesterday and figured out a way to use a single modeling data file for all products going forward so we won't have to...

How are they getting THAT sound ??

Also forgot to mention, obviously want to disable cab modeling and remove cab from your signal chain or create a different scene and bypass it in that scene if you want to play with ss pwr amp and guitar cab. Also have to add the FXLOOP block to send your signal to OUT2 to your ss pwr amp. At...

How are they getting THAT sound ??

If you are like me, you will never be satisfied with playing guitar through the Axe and studio monitors or FRFR. It will never sound as fulfilling as it does through a neutral solid state power amp (Matrix or similar) and reg guitar cab, 2x12 or 4x12. I tried a bunch of different FRFR...

Ares FW update. Honestly can't tell any actual difference.

Hah hah, I feel the same way. I barely hear any difference between different firmware versions or with real OD pedals and amps. IMHO, I think speakers/cabinet defines guitar tone much more than the amps themselves. Also the room that those speakers/cabinet are in. I've never done it but I'd...

Amp in a Room vs Studio Recorded Tones

App12, I understand where you are coming from. I tried 3 different FRFR solutions, CLR, Xitone(Very impressive build quality and customer service!) and Yamaha DXR12. None of them sounded "right" to me but the Xitone was closest since it had a switch where you could turn off the high freq...

    AxeFX III: What's Missing?

Who said anything about HAVING to use wireless capability if it had it? We're talking about an additional option for those that would like to use it. If you didn't want to use it, then there would (optimally) be an option to turn off wifi/bluetooth. Everyone is happy!

    AxeFX III: What's Missing?

I commented about the lack of wireless editing capability (wifi or bluetooth) in the original AFX3 'Presenting...' thread along with several others and one thing I have noticed is that Cliff has not commented on any of the complaints regarding it. Maybe I am just reading into things but it...

    Presenting... The Axe-Fx III

That is a good question. I asked something similar to this earlier as to why the AFX III does not have a remote wifi or bluetooth editing option. Cliff seems to be answering questions left and right on many other things but all I've heard is crickets on this one....

    Presenting... The Axe-Fx III

I understand that but they went back to the drawing board to design the Axe III and it could have been added to the design at that time. Unless they just didn't want to have to deal with software development on Android and IOS which is the OS's we would have wanted Axe-Edit on to do mobile editing.

    Presenting... The Axe-Fx III

It looks like a great unit and worthy of the upgrade but one thing I just cant understand that was left out is wireless editing capability? With bluetooth and even wifi chips being so cheap now, I don't get why this capability was left out.

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 9.04 Firmware Release

Hah hah, I'm the opposite. I have played EMG pickups ever since I put them in my second guitar back in 1991. I have tried to use passives over the years but found that they have this metallic 'clanky' sound to them when palm-muting that I just can't get used to, almost like the sound keeps...

Vai Rig Rundown from Vai Academy

Yeah, was being majorly sarcastic! I have seen some videos where identical configurations of hardware are used with different wood types and you can hear a verrrrryyyyyy slight difference in tone but IMO, woods have very little to do with tone in a solidbody electric guitar. It's more just for...

Vai Rig Rundown from Vai Academy

All of this is pretty awesome to me but I'm just waiting for the 'tonewood' purists to show up and proclaim that this guitar must sound like crap since so much of the 'tonewood' was cut out to make room for the electronics!

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 9.03 Firmware Release

All I play is metal and high-gain and I haven't noticed any problems with 9.0+ and tightness. Then again, I can barely tell the difference between different firmware versions most of the time. JCM-800 is still my go to amp but I mostly play 80's thrash stuff. I do dig the Mesa Mark IV, Engl...
