Not sure I completely understand your question, but each amp modeled uses the original tonestack to the best of my knowledge. But it must always be remembered that settings on actual amplifier knobs do NOT correlate to knobs on the Axe virtual amplifiers .... Axe-FX II is better with ears rather than eyes!!!

I am not so sure that they all use the original tonestack, f.ex what is the tonestack of the jcm 800? is it plexi?. Which amp uses the vintage tonestack? which tonestack for the friedman or the bassman.
They don't appear in the list, so I expect that an identical or at least similar tonestack was used. All I want to know is what goes where?
For the rest I guess I can never be reminded enough that I should use my ears not my eyes when I am making a patch but I don't see what it has to do with my question...

You're the unsung hero of problem-solving around here!
and it was not always obvious from the name

yeah weird DR Z.. you'd think it would have its own tonestack..
But didn't that amp get reworked in one of the updates maybe it changed then? The two tonestacks sound sort of similar I guess?J It reveals some interesting and surprising results since f.ex there is no amp using the Dr Z tonestack and 2 of the 3 dumble models have plexi tonestacks and not the skyline tonestack. Jens[/QUOTE said:wow!that's a lot of work you did there.
the way i understood it though, each amp in it's "passive" tonestack was it's default tonestack.the list of alternate tonestacks was for experimentation purposes.i remember reading about the Dumble amps that the skyline tonestack was a modification by dumble themselves, not standard on their amps until later models.
but maybe your on to something,i don't know.sounds like a question for Cliff.
