Dyncabs off axis positions, general help.

The York Audio IR's have Fredman mix and individual on/off axis mics on most if not all it's cabs to create your own mixes.

As for those being the only two purchased Dynacabs with off axis mics, I'm not 100% sure. They was just a quick look through the options on the website. I do remember the off axis dynacab was promoted a while back and it piqued my interest. I just remember those two cabs having that option. There might be others, but the 5153 and Friedman def have the off axis mics.
Once dynacabs came out- I haven’t touched a legacy IR or purchased IR’s since. It immediately sounded like a blanket had been pulled off the cab. Open and clear and unlimited mic adjustments- didn’t take long to get a sound I loved.
Same man. I love dynacabs. Much quicker dialing in a tone, for me, than waffling around searching for the perfect IR.

Do you have a preset you can share on here with that setup? I'm curious where you ended up on positioning the mics. Thanks

I don’t like posting presets not because they’re anything special but I have sent people presets that didn’t do much for them. Just like I almost never like anyone else’s presets. Generally the dynamic will be closer to the speaker and out towards the edge. The ribbon is farther away and closer to the cone. I’m not using the condenser mic right now but I experiment with it sometimes. The updated factory presets use a lot of Dynacabs too for examples. I’ll PM you a cab block or preset tomorrow.

I have the 5153 Stealth pack and probably that’s where I saw the off axis mic. The onboard Stealth Dynacabs are what won me over. I don’t use them anymore but they are nice sounding cabs. As for the packs and being on the FM3 running Cablab was cumbersome. I get better results from the onboard cabs plus the convenience is hard to beat.

I remember there was a dynacab version that had an off axis, but it was many firmware versions back. I can't remember which one. It was early on in the dynacab implementation. Not really helpful, just remembering. I can't remember why it got dropped. There was a dynacab version a and b versions. The recto cablab dynacab release also has a FRED option, which I believe is a 57 on axis and a 57 off axis blended if that helps.

I don't recall the onboard DynaCabs ever having an off-axis... But possible I just forgot.

Originally I think there were only 3 mics and there were 2 files - one with an SM57 and one with an SM7. That eventually resulted in one choice with 4 mics.
