So I returned my Helix Stadium XL to get an FM3...

I wouldnt go through all the factory presets. You know what you like, dig into those.

@strabes i keep reading about heavy low end etc with dt770s, first im reading of bright and thin ?

and always use a pc app to tweak sounds through software app.
I don’t have much too much to add, but you’ll love FM3-Edit.

Also it has been said, but among all other updates make sure to load the latest factory presets and Dyna-Cabs when appropriate for the beta latest firmware.

Finally once setup you’ll land on a preset that floats your boat and find a few hours of jamming has passed. At least that was my first experience

Most of my guitars are equipped with fishman fluence pickups.
Welcome to Fractal, hope it works great for you!

Some tips as a fellow fishman fluence user... Mine are Moderns.
1) Learn how to adjust the Input 1 pad correctly. You want to tickle the red if possible when strumming hard but not always on. This is where it is on the FM3 Edit software..

2) lower the input volume on the Amp page. I found personally that reducing this, especially on factory presets really helped them come alive. Play with this value and see where you land. For me around 0.500 had a pleasant effect.

Best of luck!

Thanks guys. I'm already following paul bradshaw, leon todd, cameron cooper, and Rosh Roslin.
I'm also considering checking out the paid lessons, if I'll feel I need them, when fm3 is in my hands.
thanks for the follow/sub 🙏 happy to help on questions you might have, the FM3 has been my main rig for the last 3-4 years, absolutely love it

Thanks! This is really helpful! I've done the -5db mod in the active voicing in my moderns, attached to a push pull so lots of options available!

You can find a great list of people doing 1:1 sessions (yours truly included) in the subforum "find a teacher/expert"

Sisääntulotrimmin säätö on hyvä ominaisuus.

Just to let you know, as you get accustomed to the FM3, this is what it is capable of, live. Sadly, Todd passed a couple years ago from cancer, but whenever I see someone discussing a new dive into Fractal world with an FM3, it reminds me of this video. He was an awesome player and great guy who also posted here from time to time.

Just saw a guy on youtube saying the Plexi models are still really bad on the Helix stadium. They were dreadful on my helix floor, I'm a little bit shocked they still haven't sorted that out.

The Plexi's in the FM3 are great though, I instantly got the sound I could never get on the Helix

Yeah that's what im looking for in fm3. I just want something that sounds and feels good right of the start. surely I'll tweak, but I don't want to be constantly tweaking.

From a video from Rhett Shull, apparently Helix Stadium firmware issues means it is not ideal to use it for tours now in its still early stages... interesting.

I bought FM3 only lasted a day - I immediately sold the FM3 and purchased an AXE III Turbo - it blew me away - coming form a Helix which I never liked very much - you will see what I mean Fractal is AMAZING

Can anyone share this preset for a clean and higain sound?

I recall discussing his BATM solo with him here, but I can't remember if he shared any of his presets. However, his username was 'bishop5150', so if you search his post history, you may find he linked his presets in one of his messages. He was very helpful around here, so I wouldn't be surprised if he did so, but it may take some hunting to find them, if they do indeed exist.

Bear in mind though, they will have been made on a unit that's many FW updates ago, so even if you find them, they might not sound "right" for you.

I haven't watched the video. But as I said, I wouldn't rely on it for any type of gig. It is still unstable, it has bugs, and if you re going to use features like showcase, man I don't know, it restarted many times while programming it, and snapshot changes where not instant.
Maybe if you only use one preset, you won't have any problems but still I don't know.
It has some nice features yes, but I think some are gimmicks tbh. I also think that it is overpriced at this moment.

User experience is great though. I wish I could connect my tablet or phone to control the touchscreen, as you are unable to manage some things through the app. I don't think that a touchscreen in a floor unit is very convenient though.

Overall my advice would be... At this price, and unless you need it for home use or rehearsals, give it time.

Well I don't think I would buy an axe fx for portability reasons. I dig the fm9, but I didn't want to risk it. I hope to like and stay with fm3 until next generation of products, or I'll sell it and get an FM9 I guess!

I don't think you'll have any issues there. The only slight negative if you can call it that, that I found with the FM3 high gain tones, is that there were so many good ones, it's hard to settle on just one or two. A nice problem to have of course. Once you get further into dialling these models in a bit, you'll probably narrow that down a bit, but there will still be more than you can ever use.

Plus ideally, there are some newer high gain amps that a lot of us would like to see added, such as the Wizard amps

Hello all,

I just returned my Helix stadium XL, and ordered a used fm3 mkII. It is going to ship tomorrow, so I guess I'll have it in about a week.
It's my first fractal unit. I've started reading the manual, but it's a little difficult when you don't have the actual unit in your hands.
I prefer watching some videos instead.

I'm mainly a high gain / metal rhythm player (tool, gojira, log, metallica, killswitch engage). Most of my guitars are equipped with fishman fluence pickups.
I use beyerdynamics dt 770 80ohm for monitoring, 90% of the time I'm playing, due to a newborn, and always use a pc app to tweak sounds through software app.

So.. do you have any advice for a me as a new user? Things to check out/watch out or do first?
Is there something I need to do or watch out in a used unit? Make backups/updates/ factory reset?
Ive had my FM3 for 6 weeks and i am loving. I came from the Pod Go abd the Helix native. No competition! The FM3 is excellent. I use it for my solo gigs with backing tracks, for my christian band and for a praise band I play in, plus my studio. Amazing!

I'm sure you'll be in very good hands with FAS. Take your time with the user manual, but dont ignore it. In my case it was very important to understand the FM3 videos in youtube more quickly. Initially I used the factory presets as a startpoint, they are awsome.
