AM4 USB Audio questions

No idea why I'm tagged in this, but I'm getting old so I probably just don't remember responding to the other thread. Either way, I'm honored to be tagged with the other heavyweights in the Fractal world.
 
I’m trying to connect my iphone 15 (lightning connector) to the AM4 to play over backing tracks.

If I want to use the USB input on the AM4, do I need a camera connection kit? With a lightning - usb-c cable I get no sound from phone.

I also tried going thru the insert return with a lightning - 1/4” TRS cable (w 1/2” adapter) which works for audio from the phone but causes a huge drop in guitar volume. Is there some volume setting thingy I’m missing here?

I’ll add that I read the manual front to back so if the answer is there I missed it somehow.

Sorry I don’t intend to hijack the thread but since my question is related to the topic I thought I’ll rather post it here than start a new thread.

That cable is probably for charging only.
AFAIK you do need the camera connection kit.

The insert loop is a standard series loop.
The signal comes out of the send, and into the return.
If you put something else into the return (like the phone), you are interrupting the guitar signal from the AM4 blocks.

If you want to use the insert loop for backing tracks, you need an external mixer.
You mix the guitar signal from the send with the backing tracks, then feed that back into the return.
Alternatively, you can feed the main outs into a mixer -- then you don't need the insert loop.

But your best bet is to get USB working.

Also: Why isn't somebody else answering this ? I don't visit this forum often.

I do have a passive 2 channel mixer I could try but was hoping to keep cable clutter to a minimum. It’s a shame FAS haven’t included bluetooth in their gear by now when even the 80$ Valeton GP-5 has this.

Guess I’ll have to get the camera connection kit.
 
Make sure to download the AM4 USB Driver from the Fractal AM4 downloads page. I also had trouble getting USB to work until I installed the driver. Now its great.
