Prog / Fusion Recommendations?

BROCKSTAR

Fractal Fanatic
I need some new music to get addicted too.

Anyone got some gossip on any older or modern prog and fusion stuff in the style of rock / blues / jazz / ambient that I may not know about?

The weirder and stranger, the better :D I also love guitar synth stuff. Also if it's instrumental stuff then that is even better!

It's hard to top Jeff Beck's work. Other people played faster but Beck played like he was driving a car heading off the road and always managed to pull it back at the last second. And he was an inspiration for SO many other big names. I have his Wired album on right now.

Beyond him, someone who's not well know was Tommy Bolin and his playing on Billy Cobham's Spectrum was totally on fire. Check out his playing on the songs Quadrant Four, Stratus and on Taurian Matador where he and Jan Hammer start trading riffs. The recording is great and with good headphones his playing really comes alive including when he breaks his high E.

Then there's Allan Holdsworth. He was like John Coltrane on the guitar. (I got to see him five nights in a row from front-row center years ago. An amazing set of shows.) His albums Metal Fatigue and I.O.U. took me away SO many times.

This is probably my favorite all time Prog album, 2 discs!!
I have seen them live 3 times. Guitarist Eric Gillette was using Fractal too.
One time in the front row at the Arcada Theatre St. Charles ILL.

The first link are songs on the album but not in original order, which I'm not a fan of.
The second link is for a live version in the proper song order, Part1 of 2.

Skimming through it, definitely has some dream theater and yngwie malmsteen vibes going on. I'll give it a complete proper listen sometime! :D

Holdsworth is one of my favorites! May not be a popular opinion but one of my favorite albums by him is "Flat Tire: Music for a Non-Existent Movie". Love it!

Sorry can’t help out here my listening is basically Coheed and Cambria and a mix of Andy Timmons, Lari Basillio Marco Sfogli and Niki Brosh amongst others on a Spotify playlist
