I am looking at humbucker sized P90’s. If any of you have experience with these I would like to hear about it. Plenty to choose from and I’m hoping to get it right the 1st time. From what I can tell the BG pickups Pure 90 is the only one that is an actual P90. I don’t know if that’s true. Read it on a forum during my research. They wind it and then trim down the bobbins to fit a humbucker sized cover. Looking at the Fralins too. Not noiseless cause the noise doesn’t bug me. This will be in the bridge of a mahogany maple topped guitar. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Seymour Duncan SPH-90 Phat Cat any good?

I have some P-rails and over the years I’ve bought a bunch of Duncan’s. From what I’ve read the Phat Cats sound good but don’t actually sound like a pure P90. But a lot of people swear by them. Like the P-rails, I think they’re great and other people hate them. I’m going to try a different brand for this one.

I have a couple of Armstrong humbucker size P-90's. I believe his first name is Vance, he's the son of the famous Dan Armstrong (never should have sold that guitar), and they are reasonably priced.

Might not be pure P90 but one of my Warmoth Tele builds has a Fralin P92 pickup in the neck position, and a Fralin Tele in the bridge. I really like them both. But I guess the P92 is a bit of a deviation from a standard P90.

I'm sure many boutique winders can make you one. I'd say pick a budget and send some emails to the usual suspects (lollar, fralin, SD custom shop, BKP, brandonwound, monty, etc)

Has anyone used a BKP Supermassive?

I've looked at several reviews and comparison videos but not sure how this will sound for me.
I am looking for some classic P90 "bite" and tone generally but in HB format. Usually play high gain but cautious that a compromise on a higher output P90 might just defeat the objective.
A BKP Blue Note also suggested (by Tim @BKP) and the slight scoop in mids might sit well but I have doubts. That plus the potential hosts could easily enhance or destroy a lot of P90 character...
I've tried to audition Fralin and Lollar but have had some great experiences with BKP in the past.
Feels like a risky plan but I'll have a go and see where it lands.

I went with a set of Fralin P90 humbuckers. I did not go with the noiseless. They are very nice pickups. If I was doing it again I’d go 5% underwind on the neck. I put mine on a single volume tone guitar. Usually I drop the volume a bit for the neck and middle so it’s fine as is.

I hope you enjoy the Fralin's. I am very happy with the several guitars that I have with Fralin's. I keep wanting to diversify, but keep coming back to Fralin. Not only do the sound great, but they are very reasonably priced for handwound.

I'm a big fan of the Arcane Doom D-90H. I wanted something very hot in a baritone and those fit the bill perfectly.
That's a new one on me - possibly worth it for the product name alone! Might be too hot but a target host is actually also another baritone....

Thanks.
