Yeah, it's the combination that works. I wasn't too fond of the dual C90s, just like I'm not really fond of the MC90 Dynacab.
But the C9-EV12L combination works great. (as does the equivalent Dynacab combo).

Is there a dynacab with both those speakers? Which?

Or do you mean mixing two cabs, one with each speaker?

In general I think speaker combinations are a BIG ingredient to some of the best guitar tones out there. Especially when we are talking about standing in front of you cranked.

The fact that this cab and the best Matchless featured mismatched pairs tells you sort of all you need to know.

Congrats on the awesome cab! I got one of these a few years ago and LOVE it! Mine came with what I think was a stock EVM12L on the bottom and the top speaker was an aftermarket Eminence Patriot Cannabis Rex. I quickly change that out for a Celestion Redback. I think the EVM12L & Redback are a great match.

I recall decades ago Mesa describing a celestion on top with an EV12L on the bottom in a 2x12 as a Neil Schon option.

I have 2 of the 4x12 boxes. One has the c90s/12L setup and is original, and beat to hell. I got it 20 years ago with a Mark3 Head for $800. LOL.

The other one is pretty clean, but I bought it empty. I loaded it with Creambacks on top and CL80s in the bottom. I havent played it enough to know what I think because I never play through cabs anymore. I just like having them.
