NGD: ‘59 reissue LP

Put a set of gotoh sd90’s on today, tuning will be easier now. I dunno if its most newer historics start to have slipping but either way its sorted (i have 510s on order for the other one eta oct..)

Didnt expect another LP this year or years coming up, but a change put me in the market. The seller was fantastic and though we had a hiccup with payment they were admirably calm and understanding throughout.

Here is my new 2021 R9 in dirty lemon, approx 8.8lb.

I find the neck carve to be identical to the MGL royal tea sitting in the #1 spot. I set up the action, intonation and stoptail height for my preference and found the custombuckers to be well balanced. I may swap the bridge pickup to add a little oomph, tbd. Looking forward to many years of enjoyment. NSLALP!

Schwing!

I wish that I could find an R0 in lemon like the OP's.
If I eventually have the funds for a darkburst R0 I’ll be very excited. Tried a nice cme spec but it was overpriced (priced as new ML for a used 2-3yo guitar) which lit that fire a bit.

Measured and adjusted the action of a couple last night and now they are all “in line” and a blast to play.

I picked up this darkburst R0/G0 a little while ago and love it. The slimmer profile is more comfortable to my hand than my R9. Most of the G0s are plain tops but the flame on this one grabbed me. Now, if I could only find a cool R0 in lemonburst....

Way more figuring on yours than mine!

WEIGHS in at: 9.35 lbs

.945” at the 12th fret

Since Gibson doesn't offer an R9 in a "natural", the Dirty Lemon is the very best color, IMO.

One thing you might notice, it turns more like an ice tea color with age. That's what my R9 and CS9 (both Dirty Lemon) did. Age seems to bring out a hidden tint of red, in my experience.

Here's a recent picture of the CS9, and how it looks after 10 years. I bought it from Wildwood:

@Jazzarian a buddy has an m2m R9 in what i’d call “roasted natural” as it has a torrefied top.

If the grain pattern floored me I’d probably be downsizing to get it.

I’d love for my lemon to get a bit green, but i think that’d require a refin haha.

Edit: part of a set of pics i took

Yeah, in that pic it looks a bit more orange. I suspect it might get a bit more orangey over the years. Do not be alarmed!

The binding and pickup surrounds will probably turn a bit yellow too.

I've got a L5 from 1992, it started out "natural". It's completely blonde now and the binding yellowed perfectly in step. I can't complain!
