It won't be long until Leon Todd and the others are posting video demos. Then people will know what product can actually do.
Many players just use a handful of pedals (ie: comp + drive pre, mod + delay or reverb post (note: Axfx reverbs can also contain a fully functioning delay). For those players, vp4 qualifies as a full vpb (+ more given channel/preset variation possibilities) - for you, we get it: your definition includes several more simultaneously on blocks - For that, Fm3/9 would seem to be the solution within the current Fractal product set. Maybe there's still more to be known about this unit, though I doubt it as I've already watched a full manual walkthru on YT: pretty clear what it does / does not do for anyone already familiar with Fractal gear given the detail that's leaked. So, why is it called a "virtual pedalboard"? Because it's *almost" one, but not quite?
Yeah, I think you and I would get along just fine. My perception of what's coming definitely leans more toward the dystopian side.Yeah, sadly… when physical copies of media went away (niche vinyl market is niche) the weekly trek to the Sam Goody/Tower Records/FYE/whatever died with it. An entire retail sector got reduced to an aisle at Best Buy and now that’s all but gone as well.
Pretty soon everyone is going to receive everything direct-to-brain via Elon’s chip, which will have credit card information embedded.
Alternatively, you can get on the stationary bike and pedal to generate power for your arcology. I think that was a Black Mirror episode?
I think that once people finally realized that the Fractal effects are top-notch (so, so much more advanced and better now!), that it caught on. Maybe just too little, too late.I loved the FX8. Wish I still had it. Kinda want another one now. But, I'm surprised it sold that badly - as it was a killer unit.
That could very well be the case but I have seen a few FM3 boards with 3-5 spendy effects pedals running in the loop! thats said they could also pair down with the VP4 and put a few bucks in their pocket all while keeping the same footprint! Who knows, it could be the second worst selling product in the history of the company...Not sure because of the price. I've heard it would be around 799$ and with FM3 price, I think people would sell their FM3 and go for FM9 not buying VP4..
Worked great for me. Clearly, I'm not your target audience. Funny how Line 6 doesn't seem to have the same problem.
If you're so enamored with Line6 products and they do what you want, why are you here complaining about a Fractal product that doesn't do what you want?Or get a HXFX, get 9 fx, and pay $650
If that's correct, I guess we're talking about 999 EUR (incl. VAT) in Europe. I was just thinking that I would probably buy it after all, but to be honest it's a bit more than I'd be willing to pay.Verified from several FM9/FM3/Turbo FB forums:
VP4 MSRP = $799.00 USD, announced in Thailand. Plz don't shoot the messenger. Am just relaying information gleaned from FB forums.
What's the worst selling product?People didn't want it. It was the worst selling product in the history of the company.
Again this is the price in Thailand, it will be less in the US, more around $650-700If that's correct, I guess we're talking about 999 EUR in Europe. I was just thinking that I would probably buy it after all, but to be honest it's a bit more than I'd be willing to pay.
Leon is the only good dude out there. It won't be long until Leon Todd and the others are posting video demos. Then people will know what product can actually do.
Line6 are the Hondas of fx.If you're so enamored with Line6 products and they do what you want, why are you here complaining about a Fractal product that doesn't do what you want?
It's not a product I need and as much as I love Fractal's stuff, I won't be buying it... But for many people this is exactly what they want.
Additionally, Cliff posted on The Gear Forum that he could envision adding another 2-4 "static" (always on) blocks per preset.
That's pretty snobbish and also disresepctful to Line 6.Line6 are the Hondas of fx.
Some people like Porsches (Fractal).
I think we need to rename Leon Todd to Fractal Jesus. It won't be long until Leon Todd and the others are posting video demos. Then people will know what product can actually do.
I was responding to the person saying you can get all these L6FX for 650 why should we pay more for fractal? That's pretty snobbish and also disresepctful to Line 6.
I'd be more than happy with the FM3 size, if it at least had the power of a HX Stompdamn, i was hoping for a small form-factor modeler. The FM3 is really too large for most of my gigs. I only EVER use a single amp and 1 or 2 effects. I'll probably buy a tone-x. Was hoping to stay in the fractal camp for everything...
I think maybe you missed his intended insult of the product... It wasn't an actual question.TBH, IDK. Perhaps because the VP4 replaces actual pedals with "virtual" digital emulations contained to work together in a multi-effects package. You gotta recall that the VP4 is a multi-effects unit...no amp nor cab simulations. I wouldn't get too hung up on the nomenclature, things are described to be what they are even though the hype may not be as much flash as it is presentation.
