Advanced Whammy problem

I have the Control of the Whammy tied to an exp pedal. If I leave the block on, there is noticeable latency. Input1 is source, Chords, and 10 Tracking was the lowest latency, but it is still noticeable.

OK, so I should Auto Bypass the block right? Well, I set it up just as Cooper Carter explains here:

And now, the issue that I am having is that The bypass on happens after the control has moved to 1.6, and when it kicks on, you can hear the shift from 0 to 1.6

I have tried this with each of my 4 exp pedals and have re calibrated each, but I keep getting the same issue.

Help?

You can offset the modifier curve to give you the whole sweep range after the auto engage point. Use the scale and offset parameters to move the curve over and make it a bit more steep so the diagonal line starts a bit further to the right.

If you have the auto engage Off Value set to 5% for heel down, it will turn the block off at 5% when going down, but it will engage a bit above that when going up if you're using one of the Position modes for auto engage (maybe around 10% or so). I assume there's an offset between the two so it won't flip flop on and off if you happen to stop the pedal right at 5%. The situation is the same if using 95% for off at toe down, but in the opposite direction.

I have it setup the way Cooper does in the attached video above. So there is no Auto Engage and the line goes straight up. See the attached screenshot:

Yes but you still need to offset the control parameter curve so you get the whole range of the whammy after it turns on. Same idea applies. You're getting a jump in pitch when it engages because the control parameter is already past 0.0 when it engages. Adjust the curve so it's still at 0.0 when it engages.

Good point. It reduced the "pop."

Yes, try "The Golden Whammy" as in Cooper's preset. You can also find it in the Devin Townsend Gift of Tone.
For future seekers of truth, follow Matt's advice and download this^^^^^^

From the readme in the Gift of Tone zip:
It also contains my "Golden Wah" setting which crossfades instead of using auto-engage so you never get any snap transition.

This thread essentially concludes that we don't need the Golden Wah xfade trick anymore:

From the release notes
https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/axe-fx-firmware-version-21-02.191637/

"Changed bypass/engage speed for the following blocks: Drive, Filter, Graphic EQ, Parametric EQ, Tremolo and Wah. These blocks now bypass/engage with a gentle fade as rapid bypass/engage with these types of blocks can sound abrupt."

Hopefully the Pitch Block is in the queue. I'll check the wish list.

For now, the GoldenWhammy is the best approach I have found, and it works ok, but it is still not perfect...

oh man, that old thread. i can confirm i dont use my golden wah trick as bypass works just fine but i still use the golden whammy as laid out in wiki.

I think it's also in the Mr.Gilmore Lead factory preset too. Should be able to just copy over the pitch block. Right-click the Control knob and Mix Knob and make sure the Source is set to your preference.
