DMC Micro MIDI Controller advice

I’m a midi novice so assume I know nothing. I’m thinking about adding some additional midi switching functionality to my FM3. To set the scene (no pun intended), at the moment I have a footswitch setup that works pretty well for me. Holds which let me access preset, scenes and effects and tap/toggles to change scenes turn on/off fx etc etc. I also have an expression pedal for volume and auto engage wah, with toe switch to access tuner (both external pedal jack are in use hence looking at a midi option).

I’m wondering if I can streamline/improve my setup by adding this little fella?

Don’t want to go any bigger, two additional switches would be enough for me.

I’m not sure what it’s capable of. My simple thought is to use the footswitches on the FM3 to access presets/scenes/effects ans I do ant the moment and then let any switching/toggling in that scene/fx be covered by midi. I presume this is a simple thing to do and the DMC micro is capable of being programmed to do this. I be happy with that if it’s all that’s possible.

Any other more clever suggestions on how to use midi to get me thinking of alternative ways to make use of an additional two switch midi option would be much appreciated.

If you go Midi, why use only a 2 button solution? With a MX-5 or MX-6 you get a ton more options than with a two button solution.

Your setup can be done with the FM3 buttons, but if you are planning to upgrade with Midi, you could set the Hold functions and/or the toggle functions of the FM3 buttons to an external Midi controller. This way changing scenes, blocks, presets is much simpler.

Thanks for the response. I have looked at these. My pedalboard does not have the space and to be fair, I don’t really need that many switches.

I see you already have a Roland UM-ONE midi adapter connected

How would you plan to also use the DMC?

If you only need 2 switches then it's probably simpler to just use one of the Pedal jacks and connect a 2-button momentary switch.

You can then use them as stand-in switches to do anything an built-in switch can do and no midi is required.

The UMOne is there if I need emergency tweaks at gigs with Fracpad. Not used it in a year of ownership, so probably not necessary 😂

I use both the pedal jacks at the moment. One for the expression pedal trs and the other for the expression pedal toe switch. I had considered a two switch, but then there’s nowhere for the toe switch to go. Adding two more midi switches therefore gives me three additional switches to play with. Maybe I’m over thinking/complicating things 😂

Stand-in switches have Tap and Hold functions, so gives you even more usefulness...

What do you use the toe switch for - Wah? Consider using auto engage for that.

Anyway, just throwing some options to consider.

Options are always good, so much appreciated. I still may end up changing nothing due to option paralysis though 😦
At the moment the toe switch engages the tuner, already use auto engage for wah.
