Presets/builds/tips/tricks - youtube - Fractal FM3

Here's , 'yet another Marshall plexi preset :D with a different sort of speaker/IR combo, the Lichtlaerm Audio LCFR-150

While trying out John Browne's IR of that speaker, I thought I'd try it with some different amps and in this case a Marshalll Plexi, or the 1959 SLP Jumped

Put together a video explaining a few things/tricks and a preset with 8 Scenes for you to check out,

Used my PRS S2 Standard singlecut, with Suhr Doug Aldrich pickups, very woody sounding for want of better words

To get the most out of it, mess around with your guitar volume knob or using the expression pedal/volume block in the preset ,
in doing so, you can get all sorts of lovely touch sensitive tones/edge of breakup etc..

preset attached below or in my usual downloads/Ko-Fi page

thanks for checking it out 🙏

Great vid Paul. I always love how you are so soft-spoken and then play "I'm going to keel you with my bare hands" music

Hello,

not sure if this is the right place to post this, trying my hand at youtube again with a better setup finally =)

Using an FM3 mark1 , the idea being to make a preset under 5 minutes, it'll be a series of videos with quite a basic approach with quick results for certain tones or setups that i'm interested in

i might look at further tweaks/considerations at some point, there's so much to learn about this unit and maybe some people want to just start off easy

any comments/criticism welcome

thanks

Thanks for sharing. I have a question in search of an answer.....on many of the more advanced presets, a lot of folks put time based effects, like delay or chorus, on a different row than the main signal channel row. What is the reason for doing this? Does it preserve more dynamic punch in the main guitar sound? I have been unable to find info on this practice in the manual or other videos.

Do a search for parallel vs. series. There's tons of discussion on this topic.

thanks 🙏 like InsideOut said

that would be Serial vs Parallel routing, a matter of preference to some extent, best to try both out to see which you prefer

Your band is excellent, can't wait to see what the next show looks like!

thanks a lot 🙏 our next show in November will be in a bar (150ish cap) , might even take out the orange pedalbaby for that one given the limited PA/setup as it's a 4 band bill, all of the others are playing oldschool tube amps/cabs so can use their cabs =), could be a good one for a vlog style update
i've otherwise never really tried an FRFR cab setup, for on stage sound reinforcement really, as we have IEMs, if that might be better than a power amp into a cab (that is usually more readily available/shared on gigs)

so it's been quite a while since i've done some FM3 content, as i've been deep diving some other sorts of rabbit holes as it were

here's something that might interest some of you when contemplating a backup rig, that fits in your gigbag

although very limited the Tonex ONE works for me, i can capture my main tone and thanks to the tonex FX update have a second effected tone that i can use as well

So i'm going to try and do new fractal uploads to every sunday on the channel , with more general guitar stuff during the week

here's a new video on recreating the Tallon x Alphawolf - The Noise pedal, it's not for everyone that's for sure =) but maybe the info is useful to some of you out there

did this for a bit of fun, asking chatGPT to make me a Metallica preset, admittedly in this case the results were very mixed (the clean tone delay/verb/compressor weren't bad ) could be something to try if you're looking for more ideas

i'd still strongly recommend oldschool research on what gear was used for tones to get things more historically accurate as it were
