FM3 My cover of, "Queen of Spades" by Styx.

I love it, great job!! Pieces of Eight has a special place in my heart. It was the fist rock album I ever bought. It was from a chain store "TG&Y", in 1979, I was 10 years old. Wow. The 1st album I bought was either Glen Campbell Rhinestone Cowboy or Love Will Keep Us Together by the Captain & Tennille.. I loved music from a very early age.

Thank you, AnalogKid!
Styx was the 3rd band I ever saw live (back in '77) when they opened for KISS. I knew of their song, "Lady" but nothing else. I thought they were fabulous (and louder than KISS). I went on to see them 3 more times with the last one being in '97 on the 20th anniversary of "The Grand Illusion" and sitting 2nd row center. I loved them live.

I’ve been wanting to get to listen with headphones. Once again you do it more than justice. This is probably one of your best. The guitars are mixed great and sound full and on the mark. I know you have mentioned you sometimes aren’t sure about your guitar tones and mix. The lead is spot on sound wise and playing. You simply nail these songs which are from my care free days. Thanks for sharing!👍

Thank you, GitGuy513. I appreciate it!
I still didn't achieve the tones in my head (and probably never will) but after days of messing with it, I just went ahead and released it anyway...

Great playing, love that song. Any chance you can post your preset for the intro? What guitar did you use? I noticed Tommy Shaw playing it on a LP in a live version. Thnx!

Thank you, guitar_legend!
The intro guitars were done with a Tom Anderson Droptop guitar with single coils in the middle and neck positions. It's quadruple-tracked.
I used the neck pickup hard-panned left using the FM3's "Rick-o-twelve" (I think that's what it's called(?), as I was trying to emulate a 12-string) factory preset. I used the middle pickup hard-panned right using the same factory preset. I can't remember the exact preset I used for the remaining two tracks (one panned left; the other right) but it was just a stock clean factory preset with modulation effects turned off. No reverb or chorus was used for the intro/outro.

Always loved this song!! Especially that solo. Great job!!

How did you get that stereo separation on the rhythm track(s)?

Thank you, TSJ!
For the cleans, a single coil neck pickup is hard-panned left in the DAW and a middle single coil is hard-panned right in the DAW with different takes and amp models using a Tom Anderson Droptop guitar. For the dirts, a bridge humbucker hard-panned left and a different take with the humbucker hard-panned right using different amp models using a PRS McCarty. The first guitar solo is the PRS, the second guitar solo is the Tom Anderson.

Sounds & Played nice man \m/ It's great the memories you brought back in my head though lol Thanks for your sharing man :) keep it up & waiting hopefully for more posts from you like this one!
Thank you, Drago! There will be more classic rock stuff like this. I usually do only deeper cuts. I was never a big fan of 'the hits' from my favorite bands.
