Amp in the room tone tutorial

Spent most of my life in late 60's, early 70's, seeking the guitar/amp tone from all those classic guitar rock albums. Cabinets in closets, other rooms, a garage, on a porch even!
The Axe-Fx gives me that almost effortlessly.
Not going back to boomy, muddled "amp in the room," tone without a gun to my head, thank you.

This is more for monitoring through headphones for a little more feel. But you are right, true amp in the room muddiness isn’t ideal. And not a true representation of what it sounds like recorded.

Your tone in the video is great!
I can see a need and use for the AITR sound on occasion. But please, no Amp On iPhone, or Amp On Potato presets.

:tonguewink:

Thanks for this, @jkaneshiro23 . One other thing that I do when playing on headphones is to pay more attention to the alignment settings on the speaker cab, and this seems particularly relevant with the cabs you chose: I noticed that it felt like I heard room softening the attack more than I'd expect, and it looks like the stock room IR has a shorter "onset" than Leon's cabinet does, by about 11mm. I think one way to think about it is that you're hearing the room just barely before you hear the cabinet. When I try this cab combination, I'm finding that delaying the room IR by 20-25mm is helping with the AIR sound and feel quite a bit.

Maybe I’ll give that a try! Haven’t tried delaying the room in an IR.
