Eastman SB59/V guitar-massive thumbs up!

Got this amazing guitar just before Christmas and although I am predominantly a Strat style man, I am absolutely knocked out by it.

These are handmade by a small workforce of luthiers in Bejing. I love the antiqued finish but accept that it's not everyone's cup of tea.

The idea of the design is that is designed, manufactured to look like it was made nearly 70 years ago and out of the box it has that played in feel. The fitted Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups are low gain Alnico 2 versions, which are very well matched.

My other guitar is a G&L Comanche and the pre-sets on my Axe Fx2 are set up for this guitar. At the time I was using a tweaked preloaded pre-set based on a FAS Modern Amp and was expecting to have to make adjustments to make it work with the SB59.

So I plugged in, backed the volume off and just stonking!

Imagine a really good Les Paul, but with better note articulation and bags of sustain and you are there.

Because they are hand made, there isn't the volume, but if you are looking for an 'old school' LP style guitar that has great playability out of the box and with a monster tone, then these guitars should be on your radar...

I had the opportunity to check out an Eastman T58/V recently. Hollow body electric guitars were never really my thing, but this T58/V did impress me. Great sound and playability. The look of the guitar was very nice, but I thought the headstock was a little big. I like the aged vintage varnish look.

The T58V looks great I agree.

Interesting video on YouTube comparing the SB59/V with a Gibson Les Paul 1958 VOS..

The SB59/V was very comparable at less than half the price.

We need pics!

Can put some pics out but this video shows the build quality and detail well, although the dealer does drool a little bit. Good sounds with great sustain as well.
