Is Quiet Delay X/Y Switching Impossible? No!

(See Yek's post# 6 for the answer!)

In other words, is it possible to switch between Delay X/Y without getting "ramping up/down/other glitchy" noises? I'm basically trying to get a setup where I have one slapback delay and one "other" delay that I can switch between using one button on my midi controller. Using X/Y states would be the easiest way for me to do this. Unfortunately, I don't believe it's possible to do this without getting "transition" noises? I know that I can just use Delay block 2 assuming I have the CPU available, but that's a bit more complicated switching-wise so I would rather not have to.

Never heard these "ramping noises" before so I couldn't tell ya. My X/Y battle is trying to build patches to improve the actual switching delay which is incredibly useful to me but annoying as f'k!

Hearing the noises is easy. Set the same tape delay in x and y but with different delay times. If you switch between them, you’ll hear the noises. It’s possible that there’s some simple setting to prevent it, but I don’t believe there is?

Use a second delay block and switch between blocks?

That noise is what you'd hear on any delay if you changed the controls while it was active. The sample buffer isn't being cleared so the control change does neat and potentially interesting things.

Sounds like a scene spillover issue. I had a similar issue and they told me to try this, add a second delay block, copy Copy Y from the first original delay block and paste it to the new delay block. So you're still using XY, just with X on one delay and Y on the other. Now set the bypass mode for each delay block to mute fx out.

Glitches can be avoided by using the same delay types and keeping params the same, as much as possible.

The tape delay is a special case though. It always has had its own spillover behavior. Try another type.

This was it! Thanks for the tip. I can have X as bucket brigade stereo and Y as bucket brigade mono with absolutely no issues switching back and forth. Now and I use one button to manually toggle between X/Y and use the other (scene-triggered) delay block for a stereo tape delay (for my bullsh!t ambient excursions :) ).
